Maymon is also clearly the leader of this team, losing your best player AND leader hurts.
8-5 thought with only one good win half way through the season. How good Wichita State is remains to be seen. They've played no one for the most part and their only good win is VCU.
Losing Maymon doesn't hurt as much as losing Tyler Smith, Cameron Tatum, Brian Williams and Melvin Goins two days prior to playing #1 Kansas though and managed to win that one.
Personally, I think Pearl could take this team the tournament. I don't think he'd be 8-5 at the moment.
lulz
I overreacted a little bit last night I had a lot of emotions going on after that game lol. But he will be a beast...Maymon not all SEC, but ok really impressed with his development, and the fire he has. Did you see how hard he fell down and hit his back last night? He got up and hit 1 of 2 free throws.

Honestly if Yemi gets the opportunity for 30-32 minutes a game his senior year, and can stay out of foul trouble that long...I could see it.
His per 40 is eerily similar the last 2 seasons, if taken his stats from last year and this year and multiplied them by 40 minutes he'd be about 12pts 14rbd 2blk.
So if he played 30 minutes and played close to the same you're looking at about 10pts 12rbd 1blk a game.
It was also the most points given up in back to back games in I wanna say 4 years.
For a guy who's brand is supposed to be tough D I never thought i'd see that.
Tough sledding for the next week too. I don't want to hear him talking about how the players need to make more baskets either. He's starting to adjust his game more towards his team strengths. If he can zero in on an identity and gel everyone, they could play some solid ball. No where to go but up from here.
My concern with playing faster like we have thr last 2 games is defense seems to disappear.
I realize speeding up our defense won't be what it was, but it's been downright bad. If they can find a medium where they can push it some but still play tough D they may be able to right the ship.
Ole Miss hadn't beaten UT at home since 1991, but they also only played them at home every other year since 1992 since they were a West opponent. So, roughly 10-11 times not 20+ times. I'm not surprised UT lost, but the way they lost and the margin.
The 44 free throws is more disturbing than anything. That was the most free throws that an opponent had shot against UT since TBA opened. That is two games in a row where UT looked woefully slow against their opponent.
It'll be interesting to see Henderson jacking up shots next year without the luxury of Buckner and Holloway rebounding his misses.
