Here it is. Non existent antifa takes over Seattle neighborhood. No police presence

From what I understand the current situation is that much of the area has basically become a vehicle free pedestrian zone. Sort of a block party currently, music, vendors, some free food, drinks etc. One spot has set up a medical clinic to help people.

Additionally, it sounds like government authorities and some of the people from the CHAZ area are working on solutions for the community.

Couldn't tell you. It seems I've run out of articles I can view on Seattle Times without subscribing. Plenty of other places mention it though. Wouldn't surprise me. As for being Antifa or not it doesn't matter to me. The claim was made that the story is fabricated and that's why it's not being covered.
Well that's the narrative being pushed as well as other gross exaggerations. For the record legitimate news has only just came out to say as much today.

Sounds wonderful!

Can anyone just take over part of a city and do the same? Asking for a friend.

funny conversation.

Is everyone cool with people just blocking off public streets from traffic?
It's a problem primarily for first responders. I doubt the barricades will last for that reason. Anyone can walk right across the border between barricades; there are no armed guards doing passport control. The barricades could be moved quickly if needed, but in a situation where seconds can mean life or death, yes the barricades are absolutely a problem.

That said, many streets in seattle were already closed due to coronavirus, and the CHAZ does not occupy any arterial streets. If they try to expand another block to broadway they will definitely be met with resistance.

Side note, those barricades probably saved lives when an SPD family member tried to speed into a crowd of protesters a few days ago.

The autonomous zone is definitely way less threatening than being purported, at least in the sense that it isn’t Arkham.

Nonetheless, it is a group of people who have gone beyond mere “protesting” in an attempt to claim a portion of the city as their own as leverage to have their demands met. It’s “cute” for a couple of hours, but the government needs to go in there and crack a few skulls (yes, literally) to make it perfectly clear that upset citizens can’t just attempt to reclaim part of a city without severe repercussions.

You on the ground reporting? Serious question.

How are the hostage negotiations going?

I'm really talking conceptually. Personally I don't care who it is (what group/what cause); I simply can't condone or support this action. Private property? Knock yourself out. Public property? Nope.
