Hey, I Might NOT Be Dying

Weez, is money being raise for your transplant? Sorry if the question has already been asked.

Right now I have good insurance through COBRA. My mom also has some money put aside from my dad's life insurance to help out. As far as my medical bills go, I just pay what I can each month. I figure as long as they're getting something, they won't send any accounts to collection.

So at the moment, I'm good financially. I get long term disability through insurance. I'm trying to get social security disability because I have no idea when I'll be able to return to work. Eventually, my long term disability benefits will dry up, but they help me make it right now.

How much longer do u have left on your cobra?

At least 6 months. I might be able to file an appeal to extend it. Been meaning to check into it, but I've not accomplished much the past month.

They got another 10 liters today. My stomach is always so sore afterwards. Can't walk upright. Have to walk hunched over, when I can walk.

Does that present a hydration issue for you?

(btw, haven't jumped in to say it yet but I'm really sorry you're dealing with all this, and you've been in my thoughts)

No. The fluid isn't in my blood. It collects in the peritoneum(think that's what it's called) and has nothing to do with hydration.

Thanks to everyone for the love, support, and prayers. It's nice to know people care. It helps to boost the spirit.

Bump on this post. I truly do appreciate the thoughts and prayers. Talking to everyone really helps to bolster my spirit. When I'm feeling low, this place helps pick me up.

I was talking to my wife about your situation. She has been an RN for many years and said to ask your doctor about a pleurx drain. She said once installed you can drain it yourself at home without the pain of the needle.

Hope you had a blast tonight and still praying for you and the family. I'm in Halls if you need anything or need someone to do errands or grocery shopping just give me a shout buddy.

Asked a doctor. He said this type of drain would disqualify me from the transplant list. So it's not an option.

Weeze, you're heavy on my heart today. Fighting a long term health situation like yours is no different emotionally and mentally than fighting a disease like cancer. Praying for not only your body, but peace for your mind and spirit as you fight on.

That's a huge load of bullshirt. Why shouldn't you be able to have something that would help make your life more comfortable and still be on the transplant list?

For some reason the site won't let me "like" a post. Hang in there Weez. You're in our prayers. You too squirrel and Joe🙏🙏🙏.

Ah man that's unbelievable. Looks like something that could improve your life while you wait would be a no brainer.

I assume there's some legitimate medical reason. My understanding was it would complicate the transplant surgery, but I could easily be mistaken.

Have an EGD this afternoon. As long as all goes well(which I think it will), I'll be at the Pigeons Playing Ping Pong tonight. It's at the International. Dr.RosenRosen assures me they're good, so come join us if you're in the mood for live music tonight.
