Highly Rated Films That You Didn't Like

It Follows was touted as one of the best horror movies in years; it was average at best IMO

agreed. I like it alright (mainly the first 2/3's of the movie), but overall, definitely a bit overrated. one of the more recent films to come to mind regarding this topic.

and speaking of recent movies, Anomalisa was extremely disappointing.

I didn't see it till about a month after it came out. I kept hearing how great it was from everyone else....it was hyped up so much...that it was a letdown for me. Lone Survivor was a lot better than this one imo.

I still haven't seen Lone survivor, I need to watch.

Idk what critics thought, but here's a list of movies people loved that I have 0 interest in:

50 Shades of Gray
Gone Girl
Anything teen lit related (Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Maze Runner, Percy Jackson, etc)

Anything by Michael Bay.
Anything with Nick Cage
Anything with a pro wrestler in it.
Anything with Keanu Reeves.
Anything with Shia Lebouf
Anything Jlo was in except Selena

Wow. Wild at Heart, Raising Arizona, and Fast Times are all quality films.

I'm just shaking my head at a lot of these posts.

the only one i somewhat agree on being listed is Crash, and shockingly, it's the most defended so far on here hahaha most film buffs i know despise that movie

I am a big film buff myself. Friends of mine say I am way too harsh on movies.

I would be very interested to hear their argument against Crash.

I've been wanting to see Birdman..is it kinda like The Wrestler? I really liked that one and was pulling for Rourke to win the Oscar

Nothing like it but i think it's great.

IB is one of my favorite movies too lol. I like WoWS too.

I might have ADD or something but I've tried two or three times and just can't get jiggy with that $hit. WoW inspired me to try something with my girlfriend at the time, and shotgun some blow up her booty. She was a fun girl and I miss her. May God bless her soul.

Mine is simple. I found absolutely no depth to it. There was no real plot. It was just a collection of relatively shallow stories that were intertwined via racism, and its redeeming qualities (and I'll admit there were a couple i.e. pretty good acting and a couple of powerful scenes), were not enough to save the movie as a whole. At least not to me.

Basically all I got from that movie was, "People are racist, usually even the ones who try to hide it. Roll credits"

I mean when you have a multi-plot movie like that you don't really have time to build depth in every storyline. Even still, they did so with several of them. The story with Don Cheadle's mother and how it tied into his little brother was wonderful.

Pulp fiction, Snatch, Sin City, etc. All great movies with multiple storylines that built no depth in any of them.
