Hillary Clinton Uses Personal Email for State Business

How much of our tax dollars get wasted investigating potential criminal activities? How many dollars were spent investigating Petraus and his handling of sensitive/classified information? Shouldn't Hillary be subject to the same?

You're speaking to me like I disagree.

I don't, to a reasonable* extent.

I just think it's comical when someone as conservative as Beecher laughs off frivolous spending of tax revenue.

*Reasonable is an arbitrary valuation, defined by me.

Actually they were investigating Broadwell when they stumbled on Petraeus' dealings. They had the evidence. The investigation was to just see the scope. With Hillary, there is no evidence just suspicion. Hillary just pops a few smoke grenades and has her minions running enough interference to keep her in the clear. She can just sit back and claim "all these times the GOP has tried to dig something up on me"...etc. etc.

Does the FBI normally investigate harassment cases? No, don't think so. They were after the General.

Obamas been setting all these generals up by allowing women and gays in the military. What did he think would happen?

When someone contacts the FBI about cyberstalking and the person doing the stalking has security clearances you will get them looking into her. When they refer to blackmailing Petraeus you will REALLY get them looking into her. They would be working to cover what blackmail was going on. In that process they discovered far more.

That is not the scenario I read. The way I understand the "story" to be is the local LEO contacted the FBI after they discovered who's mistress she was.

I think its comical that LG (and apparently others) are pounding that as the reason to turn your head. Given the ineptness of government and money, that is a coke spitting moment. If its not that its, well shes been accused before no reason to do it again.

Are politics involved? Absolutely. In both directions. Im sure there are emails and documents that all of them want in the closet. Some much more important than others.

Are there crooked turds on both sides?

LG - absolutely but dont investigate my team.

The problem with a surveillance state, where the gov has everyone's emails and phone records, is that it's extremely easy get evidence of wrongdoing on a target; then manufacture a reason to investigate. I'm not suggesting that happened to Petreus because I don't know the facts, but everyone should be aware of the possibility.

This will create an interesting precedent.

I do not believe any GOP candidate when he says he used work email to send and receive all work-related messages. This, from now on, I demand that all GOP candidates surrender their home computers and phones for examination to retrieve all messages of any kind. I also want their kids' computers and phones, because they might have used them.

I'll let you know what I find.

Big difference between Sec of State and a candidate

It took her 8 days for them to get their story straight. She learned a valuable lesson after Benghazi.

Not if they held office, particularly Senate seats. The latest screeching has been that she thwarted the FOIA by not saving work emails.

I think at least some emails about work by senators were on regular email. Thus, according to Boehner and the screech machinery, they need to produce all personal emails for inspection.

Try again.

Her owning of the email server means she controls all access to her emails.

Someone using personal email (but not owning their own server) is still subject to FOIA, subpoena etc since the emails reside on a server not controlled by the target of the investigation.

If Boehner conducted any nasty business via personal email it would still be discoverable by going to his personal email provider.

When you are your own personal email provider you bypass all means of access without your direct cooperation and permission.

Of course you knew that and continue to troll but anyway...

So you agree that it's fair game for the Dems to subpoena Boehner's emails from his personal email provider and go through them to find any work emails? Same with Rand, Rubio, and Cruz?

Interesting.

Even so I'm sure the Sec of State is privy to much more classified material than your average Congressman or Senator.

Interesting.

The dodge continues but I'll play.

Once they are subject to hearing for something then absolutely their records should be fair game.

Mistakes were made in the Benghazi case. Clinton was in charge. She could have chosen to fully cooperate but instead she and the State Dept have taken every opportunity to delay and fight.

Nice try but pathetically weak.

The GOP screeching is she violated FOIA if she didn't save every work email. That is their justification for their demand to have the server examined.

Same logic inexorably applies to GOP lawmakers in Congess. Just as you want to see if there are any work emails on her server, I want to see if there are any work emails on their gmail or yahoo accounts.

May be poor leadership.
Ive heard that called good politics by some.

At the cost of her probably being found a fraud Im sure you would change your mind and neither have to open the closet.

So initiate a FOIA to gmail or yahoo. You have the right and Boehner doesn't control them.

If I initiate one on Clinton she controls it. As evidence of the control - she admitted she deleted the emails she chose. Boehner can't do that since they still reside on his email provider's servers.

Her system puts her in control of access - the others do not. It's a real, significant difference that you refuse to acknowledge (but I suspect you recognize).

I wonder how long gmail keeps them.

From your article

Note, though, that even after an email is deleted "forever," either by you or automatically by Gmail from your spam or trash folders, the messages could remain on Google's servers for up to 60 days. Furthermore, since Gmail backs up its email systems in offline storage, your messages could remain in such storage for an indefinite period of time. So with that in mind, while it's clear for how long your messages remain in your Gmail account before being deleted, it can't be specified how long your messages remain in existence.

Google controls this and they notoriously save everything.

Running your own email system means you have full control whereas using a commercial service means they have full control.

Based on this, only the shadow knows.
