I have been a Vol fan since the late 80s and care about tradition as much as the next sane fan, but some of you creep me out with your views and how u cant adjust.

Put the banjos down.

All you have to do is look at all the NFL throw back jerseys. Unis do change.

Its just creepy for some reason the way certain posters here speak of tradition.

Like what?

I love the tradition of the Vols and it makes us who we are. Other wise we would be just any other school.

College football is all about pageantry and tradition (and winning of course).

The NFL isn't.

The Pride, The Vol walk, the Vol Navy, The Power T, The Salute to The Hill, The Orange Jerseys (AKA the most beautiful thing in the world) make Tennessee what it is.

We are where we are because of our past.
I'm looking forward to our RiseBACK to the Top but I don't want us to forget our identity on the way there.

P.S. I'm pro-gray jersey once a year.

There isn't a UT group here. It's all the way in Tampa. As far as Siesta Key, the Beach Club will have the games on as will the Daiquiri Deck and Gilligans (across the street). Where are you staying on Siesta?

Accurate, factual and sensible. If anyone is creeped out because people hold dear the elements of an institution that make it what it is to begin with....? That's absolutely nonsensical IMO.

I think people just want to voice their opinion on this so that it doesn't go too far. Many feel like it was billed as a once a year, at most, change.

I have to completely disagree with you on this. People keep throwing in the "just win." The reality is that we are nothing without our tradition. Specifically the last 6 years or so. Your making the point for other rival fans that Tennessee is nothing now. The reality is that we are only relevant at all BECAUSE of our tradition and that's one of the few reasons why we will win again.

I'm always at work listening to the game on the radio, so the color of the uniform doesn't matter. Things change. What became of the old interlocking U and T that use to be painted on the middle of the field before the "Power T" was introduced?

Tradition is great. Grey uni's are ok. They are a fun gimmick to get people excited, but they are still just a gimmick. It's just a distraction really. It's all fun to do something once a year to get people excited. Just win games and stop with the nonsense. I was cool with them for once a year, but throwing them in just whenever to get people excited is just lame. Winning is more exciting than uni's... so win.

It was thrown out the window due to disputes with texas and now...get this...the power T is tradition.

I agree with your general idea. I'm a traditionalist and my initial gut reaction to most changes is negative. But, we all must realize that we didn't always have checkerboard endzones, the Power T, Smokey, etc. Traditions must start somewhere.

I have been a fan since 1956 and I believe whatever it takes to recruit in this era, that is what you do. All who are against the change must be republicans. Like the old 90 year old man said " I have seen many of changes in my day and I have been agin them all"

I agree. We have many Traditions, that wearing grey unis once or twice a year shouldn't offend the Neotraditionalist, as long as the unis have enough characterists to make it unique to TN. 'Traditions must start somewhere".
