I have been a Vol fan since the late 80s and care about tradition as much as the next sane fan, but some of you creep me out with your views and how u cant adjust.
Put the banjos down.
All you have to do is look at all the NFL throw back jerseys. Unis do change.
Its just creepy for some reason the way certain posters here speak of tradition.
Seriously people get their panties in a wad everytime something changes and ALWAYS it comes back to tradition. We wore all orange and then lost and all you heard was never wear them again. Last time I checked we are not winning in "traditional" uniforms so are we burning those also? Come on and get a grip. These are the times and the one thing that will never change is this is TENNESSEE. Just win no matter the color of the uniforms. End of story. Things do change and will continue to! BEAT VANDY!
I am pretty sure we had blue unis at one point too.
Black and blue were the most common color for clothing for many centuries. It was the easiest and most cost effective dye.
In other news, the university chose the color orange to represent it's self. It's a unique color and we should be proud of it.
I'm thinking that we could do better in recruiting if we started to sub in tigers for the volunteers also. That seems to be a popular mascot and we need to keep up with the times!

There is a debate on why we are orange. Either after flowers on a hill that arent orange or a mysterious order that is in europe...but we already changed our mascot....the volunteer holding a gun was dropped a few decades ago.

The creepiest thing by far is how much the majority of posters are on Butch Jones' jock. I mean, the guy could probably change the mascot to a pastry and most of you guys would praise him and insult anyone who wasn't on board.
I like the new jerseys. I think they're a good idea and I think they look cool. I don't mind wearing them multiple times a year. I don't like the idea of treating the Vanderbilt game like the Super Bowl, but if that's what it takes to get this group of underachievers motivated, fine.
But the dumbest thing right now is all the insults Butch lovers are flinging at anyone with even the slightest reservations on the matter.
A lot of people harping on tradition have forgotten that we have fallen away from our biggest one: WINNING. If these jerseys help us get back to that point, then bring them on. I personally think theyre awesome looking, and I still love the orange jerseys(and the orange pants, for that matter). Why does it matter what the vols wear? They will always be our Vols.
I think people just want to voice their opinion on this so that it doesn't go too far. Many feel like it was billed as a once a year, at most, change.
I have to completely disagree with you on this. People keep throwing in the "just win." The reality is that we are nothing without our tradition. Specifically the last 6 years or so. Your making the point for other rival fans that Tennessee is nothing now. The reality is that we are only relevant at all BECAUSE of our tradition and that's one of
the few reasons why we will win again.[/

We werent always Orange...
Just saying.
We have been relevant since the late 1920s. We started wearing orange in 1922. The worst part of this is the seniors would rather wear gray than orange. Bad precedent being set.
