Look at Year 3 for Holly's future. This program has been in decline for several years with Pat. I like a lot of the young 'uns - think they have a bright future. Graves and Jones give me much hope. Add in Mercedes next season and they should be Final Four material by 2015. Holly's analysis of where they are and what is going on is spot on. Let's see if the motivation and discipline are addressed the way they should.

It was a bad hire for Dave Hart. I am sorry but this team is nothing like what Pat Summitt would put on the floor. Should of hired the LSU coach. Going to be a long season for the Lady Vols.

I compare the promotion of Holly to the promotion of Frank Solich at Nebraska. Frank was promoted because he was a lifelong Nebraska employee and based on that, they promoted him. Kinda like rewarding him for all of his faithful years of service at Nebraska.
Well, Holly was the same way. Once this program crashes, maybe we can get Caldwell from LSU to come here. I doudt it though, because by then she would have already gotten the LSU program running on all cylinders.
We will probably end up with Jolly, which is not a bad choice......
But in the meanwhile, we are headed for a free fall in the women's basketball program....

Don't think this hire was thought out enough either, I would have went after a coach that is already a head coach such as Kelly Harper or Nikki Caldwell. Anyways will see what happens.... Go Lady Vols!

Amazing how many people have no clue. They probably watch one or two games and know exactly how this team is coached. The team is fine. Holly is doing a good job. Things will never be like the old days with Pat because the competition is a lot better now than it was. You have more than two or three teams to beat now. The game is growing and getting better, more competitive. I wanted Nikki also, but Holly was my second choice. This team wouldn't be as good as they are with Kelly as head coach and our incoming class wouldn't be as good as it is. Chill out people. We are fine. Not great, but we are good.

Problem was - snub a 27 year assistant, the others leave - players decommit and leave - then what ?

Give a Holly a chance... She has been at UT over 28 years and played under Pat. Holly is very competitve and hates to lose like Pat.. If you think about it, Pat had it rough times to when she came to UT as a head coach. And she lost games too in her first few seasons.. Pat didn't get a NCAA championship til 1987. And started coaching in 1974.. You do the math. I am big fan of Tennessee...I heard after the first loss this season, Holly and the coaching staff took away their cell and Iphones..... Pat did do the locker room taking away... And much more.. But, let's give Holly a break.. She is doing a great job but she has tough footsteps to follow..If Pat didn't think she was good enough to take over. She would have told that to Dave Hart... It is a young team and still early in the season... I believe in Holly and the coaching staff and UTK and our ladies..

Warlick got the job only for loyalty reasons and not expertise, having never been a head coach. But loyalty probably is good for only about three seasons, four seasons max, unless HW can get a final four or final eight appearance. UT will never win a NC with HW as head coach, book it. Hopefully HW will keep the program in the road for the next UT women's head coach.

All that said, HW is no Pat Summit. One of her biggest problems is following a legend without a smidgen of name recognition, for all practical purposes, among elite women's programs and h.s. athletes as well. Not to say she won't get recruits, even some good ones, but the road for her will be much tougher.

Chill out people. We are fine. Not great, but we are good.

Being good will carry a team, "particularly" UT, two or three years, but ultimately, good has to include some post season hardware.........more than the SEC title.

Holly deserved the job after 28 years of loyal service. She's family. There are more important things than winning. Besides, if we got a coach from the outside, we'd have to pay a lot more than HW is making, so she is a bargain. Plus, it helps to keep the ticket prices low.

She deserves a chance to succeed. She's only been doing the coaching for about 3 years now and she's stuck with players picked by someone else. Over the next 4 years all of the recruits will be hers to pick, so we should start improving.

Taking their cell phones away was a good thing. Why should they be allowed to make calls and text message while they are playing? That would be like texting while driving.

The players seem to be happy playing for HW. They have a lot of freedom to do what they want during games. From listening to Holly's press conferences, she might not be happy with the players right now, but she'll come around.

Remember, this is a young team, younger than almost every other team in the SEC. Tenn players average Sophomore. All other SEC teams average Soph and a half!

It's still early in the season, just a little over a third of the regular season games have been played. Plenty of time to improve.

Well, everyone wants HW to succeed and everyone will have to just wait until the cards fall, so to speak, over the next two or three years. But, given the fact that Cronan is not around now and there is only one AD, there is more pressure on HW, not to mention the fact of the towering presence and legacy of her mentor, PS. You mention the players HW was "stuck with" and picked by someone else, that someone else was PS. And not to be critical here, but sophomore vs. sophomore and a half experience isn't a big difference.

If we could shoot the ball Holly would be a great coach. Simmons was really bad and Taber was worse in the game Saturday. If they make forty percent of the total shots they took Stanford is in trouble. I think Holly is gonna have to let the players that are the best shooters take most of the shots. Right now that would be Burdick, Kamiko, and Bashaara.
I admit that our defense was ugly as well in this last game.

Great, another thread with the under tones of, "We suck and aren't undefeated. It must be time to fire the coach."

It's Holly's first year, and she's got a young team. Our fan base needs to learn more about patience.

Yeah...patience...along with some common sense. Just not too sure VN is actually any sort of "fan base". :good!:
