The "hater" label is something that is earned and unfortunately, the majority of posters here now fit that label. I get it that a lot of you are frustrated, know little about coaching women, and are looking at assigning blame to try to make yourself feel better but you are going about things the wrong way. Its like you are still in Jr. High (and maybe some of you are the way you slam people who do not agree with you). If it were in my power, I would fire every one of you from the job of being a fan because you suck at it.

The entitlement many posters exhibit by slandering and bullying others is almost comical if it were not directed towards my University and its real fans. Perhaps if a few of you had actually attended UT, you might have a little more loyalty and look out for the best interests of the program. As it stands now, a prospective player doing their research will read the junk posted on this board and decide to go to school at a place that has a better class of fans. I truly expect that is the intentions some of you have and the remaining posters are just misguided people with poor critical thinking skills and low self esteem who seek acceptance by any means and as such reciprocate this feeding frenzy.

Do UT and its real fans a favor and start your own forum and don't give it a name that associates it with Tennessee. That way you will become as irrelevant as the mindless dribble you spew every day.

There you go! Enjoy.
What a crock of BS.

While I agree with you that personal attacks against our players and coaches have no place on this board, to deny what's happening on the court is not constructive either. It would look terrible to fire Holly nine games into the season. Like it or not, she should be allowed to finish this season. She may yet be able to turn the team around. However, if the LV's continue to play at their present level, this season will not be a pretty one and some serious decisions will then have to be made.
Do you like the direction this team is going in so far ?

Great post, and people are so quick to want to fire somebody. You would think after fulmer they would learn, but NOPE. Let's fire a winning coach.

UT and Uconn had a strangle-hold on womens recruiting. Over the last 5 year UT let go. Doubt they will ever get it back now that other schools have been more successful. Doesn't matter who the coach is really they will rarely be as good as before.

Very mature reply and expected from something like you.
It is a mature reply because it's the truth. That load you just dumped with that post was BS. I wasn't being immature at all. It's exactly what I think of your post. I haven't called for Holly to be fired yet. The only time I have come close is the last game. I still think if we had lost, Hart should have had her on a plane back to Knoxville the next morning. Bottom line is, if I think it's BS, I will tell you and I did.

No I don't and I can't imagine any true fan does but what I take great exception to is the rampant speculation and character assassination that many resort to as a way to express their frustration or to accomplish something more sinister.

Everyone wants to suggest changes without knowing what is really going on. Why can't it really be about learning to integrate new players that is complicated by injuries and the challenge of university studies? Why can't the coaches have the time needed to sort through new personalities without being called out by keyboard cowards who believe they are entitled to affect something they know so little about? Why can't someone have their period without being called out for being lazy and not caring?

And finally I wish I found it surprising that people on this board would take a rumor and try to turn it into a truth by accepting it at face value and writing about it as fact but I'm not surprised on this board. Some posters look for any bad news, fact or fiction, and try to spin it into something hurtful and I'm sick of it. Those that I am talking about know who you are.

There are some concerned posters here who do a good job of expressing their concern in an objective way and there are others who did so in the past but have decided to join the feeding frenzy led by some who apparently take great pride in bullying and slandering people into shutting up or leaving. I hope reason prevails and those that are able find their way back.

That is all.

I've read enough of your posts to know what you are and you are certainly one of the haters and one of the posters that my post is directed towards. You call it BS and I call you out on your immaturity like it or not.

I hope so but she will probably be rusty and will need time to get comfortable. Jasmine is another issue all together. She plays so hard that collisions are inevitable. I'm amazed that Catchings has avoided a similar fate.

Now a lot of this post I can agree with. The part I don't agree with is the integrating of the new players argument. These girls have been playing ball a long time and know most of what's going on. The teams we have played have the same issues with new players coming in. Barely beating out Witchita State has nothing to do with this. These girls are talented enough to go out and beat them if they had never played together. There is some fundamental problems with this team and I think it is more on the coaches than the players. Time and again you will see a coach come into a program and they will improve dramatically with the same or nearly the same players. I think we have the talent. I'm calling BS on the Harper stuff until I hear it out of her mouth and even then I will take it with a grain of salt. She hasn't spent enough time with the girls to know if there is a problem or not. They all seem to get along fine when I see them.

Are you the same person you were a year ago...a decade ago? Young people change fast especially when they leave home and may develop several personalities as they go through college while trying to determine who they really are and want to be.

While basketball provides structure, one still has to find their way. All I am saying is that there is much greater pressure on those lady vols than most believe and while they may have been playing with each other for a while, it was not in game situations and that appears to be giving them a challenge....along with spacing and passing decisions. Different team abilities present different challenges. They will work it out without this boards advice.

It's not like this is the first time a slow start has happened and won't be the last as long as emphasis is placed on defense at the start of the season. I think that decision is the coaches prerogative and the fans just have to learn to deal with it. While it may be unsatisfying for those that need dominating wins every game, one elite 8 and two sweet 16s tell me that it is not a bad decision.....but then I am no one to judge Holly and her work.

I know the pressure they are under but it's the same at UCONN, ND, Stanford and other places. It's not unique to here. I don't expect an undefeated season every year. I just want to see the girls perform up to their abilities and so far this year they are not. What is the problem? It appears to be coaching to me. It appears that the further we move away from players that were influenced by Pat's presence, the worse we have gotten. I'm just afraid the girls are being let down by their leadership and if they are, it's not fair to them. Let's hope they turn it around on the west coast swing or it will get real ugly, real quick. It's already headed down that path but hopefully it can be headed off at least until the end of the season.

I'm an optimist at heart but am a realist also. I expect we will see some improvement but whether it will be enough to win on a good opponents home court...I don't know. What I do know is I will continue to support the lady's, be patient as they work things out, and have faith that in the end, they will find a way to get better and win. I will not air dirty laundry nor call for coaching changes as it is not only not my place but is the wrong thing to do on several different levels.

Well, Rick, thank Heavens you don't "slam people who do not agree with you." :)

So you honestly think that prospective recruits who were sold on the school, its academics, the bb program, and the coaching staff will change their minds because of a message board? Wow...such power residing in posters. Using that logic, everyone (including you) should be saying how impressive the team is so far and how satisfied we are with the coaching. I'm sure that will immediately convince any undecided recruit who has doubts after actually watching the games.

Perhaps you should consider another possibility: A recruit might be impressed seeing how passionate the fan base is about the team (in addition to the attendance & lifelong support from many fans...even those whom you disparage because they (horrors!) didn't attend UT...as demonstrated by leading attendance each year). Recruits wanting to play at the highest levels thrive on pressure & high expectations...and likely appreciate the fan interest. Of course, they could go to a school with "classier" fans (and < 500 attendance).

There are people who go too far with personal criticism of both coaches & players, of course, but they are the minority. This is supposed to be a discussion forum...NOT just a propaganda arm of the athletic department. It's arguable that anyone offering unqualified, unconditional support for a program in obvious trouble is "looking out the for best interest" of the team. Sure, Warlick & staff should be given the opportunity to fix the problems, but much of what we're seeing has been coming on for years. And it's not only resulting in poor court play...it appears to be affecting recruiting (unless you think it's just coincidental that all of the targeted recruits spurned TENN).

Saying that "we've been to an one Elite 8 and two Sweet Sixteens" means just this: In the past 3 years, we've finished as one of the top 8 teams one year & as one of the top 16 teams the other two. If some fans are happy with that, more power to you. But questioning the "loyalty" of fans who expect more from the proud Lady Vols tradition is a two-way street. It would be just as easy for the fans with higher expectations to point fingers at those who appear to be condoning complacency and mediocrity.

At any rate, maybe you should reread some of the insulting language you aim at other forum members and heed your own advice. It is possible to discuss both the coaches, players, administration AND other posters without using demeaning language, you know.

Thank you for a well written post. You make some valid points and I will be more careful in the future how I articulate what I think is mindless dribble.

I do believe that there are unscrupulous recruiters who would use message boards to achieve their goals just like there are companies that would manipulate blogs for their own advertising ends.

Don't mistake me for a person who accepts average. I just don't think that speculation serves a useful purpose when it is used to hurt or slander. As I said before, I understand the root cause of frustration and am frustrated myself but to call for the job of someone else goes too far. Those that make those type of tough decisions will do so when appropriate.

Finally, the people who engage in personal criticism of the coaches and players do not appear to be a minority. There is a LOT of it on this board and I believe not only is it counterproductive, it's destructive as well.
