I think there are people who are predisposed to being gay only so much as there are people predisposed to being pedophiles. The degree of predisposition can vary.

The pedophiles that can't help themselves are in prison and homosexuals that can't help themselves are granted shag pads.

You do not see a fundamental difference? What is wrong with pedophilia is that it most often manifests itself in rape; homosexuality most often manifests itself in consensual relationships.

Having lived in close-quarters with soldiers, I fail to see what is wrong with bunking two soldiers, who want to be with each other sexually, together. I do not care whether they be male/female, male/male, or female/female, so long as there is no conflict of interest at stake or one of them is in a position of power over the other.

Soldiers very often will construct "spank-walls"; these are either constructed by simply hanging poncho-liners or by rearranging lockers to provide the privacy. It is quite transparent that often a soldier will be doing his thing while the other soldier is asleep on the other side of the CHU, connex, room, what-have-you. It is an undeniable fact of life in the military. What makes it more egregious that behind the "spank-wall" a soldier might well be actually engaging in sex with another male or female, regardless of said soldier's gender?

The government should probably just get out of the marriage game and concern themselves with overseeing legal contracts between consenting adults.

The time at which legal contracts are entered into should have nothing to do with a ceremony or calling yourselves "married".

The contract should have nothing to do with "marriage", it is simply a contract.

The legal contract I entered into with my wife need not have anything to do with us being "married". In fact, the marriage ceremony and us calling ourselves married need not follow a legal contract (this is essentially what is happening with gays, no?).

(I know I could do a better job explaining but I need to get back to work.)

I too have lived in close quarters with other soldiers and the quickest way to erode disipline in a unit is to introduce sex into the equation.

I remember in the late 80's early 90's when some of the front line support units were integrated, those units quickly went to sh!t. Being a 11B we didn't have to deal with that, thank goodness.

Okay, then what was wrong with the decision of the Olympic Committee was not the decision to let gay individuals room together it was the decision no to let spouses room together.

Sounds like Olympic village housing was done by gender, kinda like those showers. Same sex couples just seemed to take advantage of it. It was an easily fixable situation, but that seems to be the rules.

Infantry Battalions are now integrated. There were certainly soldiers having sex with each other on our BN FOB; there were a few discipline problems, but the entire BN did not go to ****.

Sad!

The problem with soldiers screwing within their platoon/company is rank and jealousy will eventually come into play and discipline will break down. Now, never knew of any homosexual couples, not saying they were not there but maybe they handle it better than heteros.

I don't want to shower naked with other men period, but I do believe I have a right not to shower with gay men. Women have the right not to shower with men. It is not different.

Yes, but there is a reason that pedophiles ought to resist sex with children because children cannot consent; thus, if pedophiles do not resist, they are rapists.

There is no reason why we ought to say that homosexuals ought to resist having sex with other homosexuals.

It's a mental illness, right? Maybe you would agree.

There is usually a desire to fix mental illnesses. Bi-Polar, depression, schizophrenia, etc. We don't just accept them and people with them. We don't encourage the behavior.

How, exactly, is homosexuality any different?
