What legal bar is SCOTUS going to use in order to determine whether this is a national emergency or not? Fact is article 2 and the National Emergencies Act grants the president a large degree of latitude in declaring national emergencies. The check and balance is congress passing an over riding resolution that POTUS can, and has already stated in this case will, veto. So how does SCOTUS **** on him exactly? The Supreme Court is going to **** on him.
Why is Congress "investigating" alleged crimes that supposedly were committed while the alleged perpetrator was a private citizen and crimes that are not related to the alleged's current job?
Because he promised to show his tax returns?
That alone is a good enough reason for me. Some people probably voted for him based on his word that he would release his returns.
His personal lawyer testified and provided documents that Trump inflated and deflated his personal wealth for various reasons over a period of years. He would inflate the figure to get loans and make Forbes lists and deflate it for tax purposes. I would assume they want to check his returns and financials to see if he was and possibly still is a tax cheat. I think they should.
So when Trump abuses power it's not that big of a deal because we have 3 branches of government with checks and balances safeguards built in.Yeah, like they are supposed to. That is why we have three separate branches of government.
Probably a lot of truth in this. That being said, I couldn't care less. I'm way more interested in seeing the returns of the congress' top 10 net worth.... regardless of party.I think his big issue with releasing his tax returns is he doesn’t want people to know he’s not worth as much money as he claims

Mnuchin won't give a straight answer, there's a shock. But obviously he will resist it.
Aside from the legalities, Trump repeatedly promised to release them, and has not. I think you would have to be a pretty big fool not to suspect there is something in them. At this point, I'm thinking they would not square up with the financials he submitted to banks. So either he defrauded the banks or engaged in tax evasion. Maybe both.

BUT when you feel a democratic controlled house is abusing power, it's horrible, the government is out of control, and it's a preview of a fascist onslaught.
Got to love your consistency.
Inflated and deflated claims of wealth are not shown on an income tax form. Inflated and deflated income might be, though. That alone is a good enough reason for me. Some people probably voted for him based on his word that he would release his returns.

I agree with you, here. tax returns are customarily released but not required.I'm still trying to figure out why this is a Congressional investigation.
