This isn't exactly right. Really depends on the area. IL taxes on weed are crazy and the illegal sales are still the method of choice for most. Great for tourist but locals still buy from the same folks they always have.

And if anyone is paying $50 for a tenth (legal or not) they have smoked themselves stupid.

I’ve done work on trucking companies and been there when surprise drug test day pops up. They randomly test everyone including admin and operations. Some people looked pretty nervous standing in line.

You can get off work, get drunk, wake up in the morning and pass any test. So why shouldn't you be able to come home, smoke a fatty, wake up in the morning (feeling much better than if you had gotten drunk) and go back to work?

Some drug dealers, yeah. But probably a lot more who had an ounce or 2 on them and got caught with it. Throw in scales (most every stoner has scales because....black market) and you're a dealer in the eyes of the law going to prison.

all comes down to what's in your blood and at what level. I was involved on the periphery of a works' comp. case many years ago that involved a guy who fell out of a tree and was permanently paralyzed. He had THC in his system and his employer, a tree service, had a zero tolerance policy because that was they only way they could afford the insurance. Insurance company denied the claim. It took some expensive expert testimony to establish that the level of THC in the guy's system was not enough to impair him at time of the fall and even then I think he got the benefit of some judicial sympathy. if it had not been for the fact that this guy was very young making decent money because of the dangerous nature of his job his case would not have justified the expense that went into developing the expert testimony it took to win.
