I'm sure many of you have seen this article: Dana O'Neil: Latest Pearl revelation is most troubling of all - ESPN

O'neil paints a gloomy picture for Pearl (and MH too).

But the facts are what they. Pearl INTENTIONALLY violated NCAA rules and then lied about it to the NCAA's face. I mean this is so LOLOL!!!

I'll admit I've gone back and forth about Pearl. I loved his enthusiasm and the Bradshaw-Lofton teams and their scrappiness. Then I was very frustrated the last two years with the inconsistent effort and lack of discipline are teams displayed. Then suddenly we make an Elite 8... LOL!

I can't imagine the NCAA won't make an example out of Pearl. The guy BLATANTLY violated clearly stated NCAA rules. Then BLATANTLY lied when directly question by the 'AA. There is no gray area here. How can the NCAA not suspend pearl or place some significant penalties on UT bball? I mean he told the families "we are all knowingly breaking NCAA rules here". WTF??? LOL!!! He knowingly put all those kids freshman years in jeopardy. I can't imagine the 'AA not coming down hard concerning all of this.

His success the only thing keeping the incompetent egghead in the AD's chair employed. Hamilton can't fire him without walking out behind him.

The NCAA will have to do something, Hamilton knows he'd be committing career suicide if he fired him.

Nothing more will happen to Pearl internally.

Only the NCAA can force the issue now.

this ncaa is so dirty that this would have been no big deal if he didn't mislead investigators about it.

that's the way it is and has always been for most schools and it won't change. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

He's taken Sampson's excessive calls -- the Tennessee staff has been accused of making 96 extra calls, including 34 by Pearl himself -- and raised them two years' worth of deceit.

Dana is stirring the pot and she is a liar or she is incredibly ignorant of the Sampson case.

If Pearl lies to the NCAA ever again he is toast. That is what Sampson did.

And 32 calls is not the hundreds Sampson did.

Don't worry about significant sanctions by the NCAA. MHF has made it clear that this is a lot of insignificant stuff and nothing will come of it. He has an unparalleled record of making correct predictions and he knows more than most any one on this board. Sooo....actually nothing to worry about and folks who think this is significant are just Pearl bashers.

One of the many reasons I can't stand ESPN's opinions towards anything that involves UT athletics.

I hate ESPN and won't be watching it any tonight.

Oh, and don't forget ESPN has no credibility. They just don't like UT. That's the reason for this article. MHF is the real source of information to this situation. Unless he reports serious concerns, nothing to be concerned about.

Hell no they don't like UT. The proof of that was supported when Peyton didn't win the Heisman. They gave it to Woodson, the first defensive player to ever get the damn award.

---You do a lot of LOL ing for one person. There is a lot of gray area here imo. If you are here long you will find most like yourself speculate a worst case scenario and have painted it in the most unflatering light possible.

I --like the admin am willing to wait to see what the NCAA finds and how they rule before passing judgement regarding CBP. While still wrong -- I have read a survey on the most agreegous of the violations and 10 among 10 NCAA coaches surveyed violated the rule. Don't know this to be true but it sounds like he may have tried to encourage the kids and their family not to visit his party but they stopped by anyway. I wasn't there so don't know all the specifics.

Certainly this is a black mark on him and our program and he was punished harshly as a result. However, it definately pales by comparison to a certain coach to the North was has received nationwide acclaim and admiration -- yet has left two programs on probation in his wake.

I for one think that CBP will come out of this and will live to fight another day.

I didn't know ESPN controlled the Heisman Trust or the Downtown Athletic Club.

That is crazy.

This sounds completely uncredible.

I cannot believe the Bruce Pearl we hired did this. As soon as the NCAA letter is received he should be fired. Intentionally lying and coaching the families of the prospects to lie is horrible. I have been as excited as anyone about our b-ball resergence but this reaches a level which justifies termination. No one is bigger than UT. The sooner we get on with it the better. I am so disappointed.

Select may be a bit strong. Every Tom, Dick and Harry with a media credential is more accurate.
