How doesn't Croom get the 3rd spot

Surely Croom has fully recovered from the hamstring thing. He may not start but will see the field as will several of our guys.

Of course we Gator posters on the Vols forum think UF has had the superior program for awhile now. Who doesn't think that?

You might interpret that as condescension, but that is your fault, not ours. I know I speak for 99 and Lawrence W when I say it is a lot of fun to post here and discuss the two teams, the SEC, and the BCS in general, and that it will be that much more fun when UT is back in contention again.

Saying that they haven't been? Meh, most people would take that as a simple fact that needs to be worked on.
99 is a cool guy and I enjoy his posts. You, on the other hand, I just don't like you.

99, Really no need to be such an ass
Why are you so worried ab what our team is doing?

I don't think the lizard is being an ass. He stated a fact. The OP is bewildered that Croom is among the WR starters. The fact he doesn't see them day to day at practice and even if so probably isn't qualified to decide who starts and who doesn't Jones makes his calls based on experience and knowledge of players. Sentimental favoritism isn't how it's done.

Though he's usually civil, I agree that 99Gator and of lizard lickers should be on their own board instead of living here. But you know, it's a free country so. . . .

It wouldn't surprise me if Jones is holding out his WR giants until the Oregon game. Unleashing them there when the need them the most.

Further, Croom is being experimented with. His size, speed, and being a WR with a TE body makes it hard to decide where he belongs. I think CBJ is trying to see where the Croomster would inflict the most damage on opponents.

Looks like it'll be Pig, North, and a battle between Croom and Smith.

Croom seems like he'd dominate on the position. Kind of a hybrid WR/TE. There won't be a lot of S or LB's that can cover him.

How this is even a battle is beyond me but that's why I don't make the big money.

He wasn't declaring croom the starter nor was he saying that he knew who the starter should be. He was just asking for some insight.

Key Words: seems, beyond me, and that's why I don't make the big bucks.

Mz. Terry is gonna Butch slap all of you fools.

Remember Croom's development has been hampered by injuries to a degree. Yesterdays practice featured him as a receiver with the 1's in what some reporters were calling the possible AP starters. Coach has made it clear a lot of receivers will play, Croom will factor in nicely into this offense.

Fair enough.

Does this help?

But, I said that in the OP...

I know we're all anxious for football to start but why so consumed by who may be the starters? It's not who starts but who finishes. Notice the way CBJ is always positive when asked about the players. He is smart and wants to keep everyone motivated and working to improve. Most likely he will play lots of people during the season both out of necessity and to develop depth. Some players are gamers who may not standout in practice but hit an extra gear in games. Injurys may also require players to play who aren't even on the radar now. Keeping those 2nd and 3rd team players engaged will only help the team this year and in the future.

Does Matt Milton ring a bell? Just because he looks like a player doesn't mean he is one.

I hope we get to see Jacob Carter too. He looked good in the spring. I saw him in some highlights of the practice videos also.

Wtf he's prepping with the ones at one of the last practices for camp. MM never did that.

Not saying he will be a Matt Milton, but he might not be the third best receiver. Then again he might be the best reciever on the team. Just because a guy is 6-5 230 doesn't mean he will be great. Just because a guy is 5-11 180 doesn't mean he won't be great.
