How I Met Your Mother

Is next season confirmed the last season?

Based on a couple of the links provided on the last thread the answer is apparently that it is NOT yet confirmed as definitely the last season. If they try to drag it out one more season, then I won't care who the mother is.

If next season isn't the last then yeah, I'll probably stop watching and just catch up after it goes off the air. There's only so many flashforwards and red herrings I can take. At this point I don't even put it past them to visit Ted/Robin one more time, although I can't see them topping the stupidity factor of how it happened this season.

The way I see the series finale ending:

Barney: It's gonna be legen...wait for i
Marshall: SLAP! THAT'S 8!
Ted (To his children): and kids...that's how I met your mother.

This thread went almost 4 full months in between posts for that?!?!?

The silence on this thread during this entire season tells you all you really need to know about how the writers of this show are doing.

haha I was talking with a friend about it and figured I'd post about it. I don't think the season is terrible, it's just coming toward an inevitable end, much like the Office

It's not that the show is bad, it's just it seems to have no direction. It's like it's just just a drifting boat that eventually will reach the shore, but it's going to take way longer than it should.

I thought tonight was ok, but honestly the show is just wearing thin on me. I still laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, but even Barney's antics are getting old to me. I REALLY hope this is the last season, but from what I read the show runners are desperately trying to put together a Season 9. They say they won't do it without the whole main cast returning and right now Jason Segel is not interested in another season.

I agree with more of your sentiments in this thread.

The show was really good, now they're just dragging it out for the sake of dragging it out.

I hope they at least give it a complete ending, and don't have to rush it into a couple episodes. I could see them doing a short season 9 to wrap things up, like 8 episodes or something.

I feel like they go around in circles. You could make the argument that very little has changed in the show in a few seasons (Robyn/Barney together, Marshall and Lily back in the city, Ted still saying that the kids' future mother was all over the damn place)

This is exactly how I feel. In fact I cringed when they somewhat even teased yet another Robyn/Ted thing last episode. Luckily it only lasted about 3 minutes, but when Marshall threw it out there again, I literally said to my wife "They aren't seriously doing that AGAIN are they?"

this show is tubgirling itself

maybe it will be one of those things that i marathon through later in life and enjoy, but watching it week to week is getting silly. they've halted progression on everything it seems. the last season was filler for the most part until they were ready to go forward with Robyn/Barney it seems. Marshall and Lily's progression has been moving at a snail's pace, and Marshall is the most dynamic on the show.

Season nine needs to be titled "How I Finally Met and Married Your Mother in a Single Year"
