How Tennessee can beat Georgia

Easy. Bring the D that played Bama. UGA receiver weapons are having a down year. Beck is obviously off this year as a result. His timing. Everything is off with him. And I can only assume it's because of offensive weapons, considering my expertise. Unleash the D, and give Nico and the O a chance to put a few extra points on the board than UGA.

Which is why I said we need to bring our A game. You can get away with playing less than your best at home as well just did against Florida and Alabama. However, to win at Athens we will need to bring our A game. My contention is if we do play up to our potential I don't think there's a team in the country we can't beat. Even Georgia on the road.

I think you'll see Tennessee play to their full potential for 4 quarters against Georgia. And if we do that we're definitely gonna win. Cause us at our best is better than anything Georgia can muster.
When you lose Bower and McConkey and don't have anyone that has stepped up to the role, you get a UGA team that only has one loss by sheer will. They can be bridled with A game defense.

Unless Nico and the offensive line have the best games of their life and play at a level we haven't seen yet, I think the only way Tennessee can beat Georgia is to just hold them to an absurdly low score of 10 points and under and Georgia would have to give us some turnovers with good field position.

Field position is going to be very important.
I absolutely agree that field position could be a huge factor in this game. We’ve seen both the TN and the GA defense play at very high levels this season, so it’s very possible that special teams could play a big part for the winning team.

I think the best game by our defense might have been Florida and not necessarily Alabama. Both saw great efforts.

Tennessee's offense tends to not score, as well, unless they get great field position. I believe that was a big part of how Tennessee contained Miami in 2003.

Overlook UK and MSU and they'll lose those games.

Miss State lost to Toledo 41-17 at home. Surely, Tennessee is better than Toledo.

Heck, the SEC should have made MSU forfeit the season after that performance.

I think UK will give our offense problems but it will be a lot like Oklahoma where we just need ~20 points and then we can play not to lose.

Georgia and A&M only beat them by 10 points each. Our passing offense is still a work in progress.

Luckily, MSU defense isn't too good

Just curious, how has y’all’s kicking game been this season? How confident are you with field goals. I’m pretty confident in our guy and he has a strong leg. Man I really hope I don’t regret this post!!!🤣🤞

Our kicker is young so that is another intangible. It is hard to tell because he has made the ones within 50 yards but missed the 2 50-yard field goals against Alabama.

I would say that home field advantage usually helps in the kicking game.

Most of Football is momentum though. How a team shows up and how confident they are.

I get the whole 2022 South Carolina and 2024 Arkansas thing but I honestly am not worried at all about these games. They are both at home and only Kirby Smart and Georgia have beaten Heupel at home the last 3 years. Both teams are a train wreck IMO and they just don't match up well against Tennessee.

I think the Stoops magic at Kentucky is running out and they are trending down. I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps ship for another job this off season.

Miss State has a first year coach and they are getting better but the talent is just not there on both sides of the ball to compete with Tennessee (or most of the SEC).

Yeah, it makes sense that home field and game experience could definitely benefit a kicker. Who knows though, those kids gotta almost have nerves of steel.

Neyland's maxims.
Avoid/limit mistakes.
Reset every play, whatever transpired before.
Be in the moment. This play, right now, my personal best.
With the above, our 2024 Vols can defeat Georgia or any other college team.

Play defense and run the football.

I don't know if Georgia can get to 21 against our defense. Hopefully we can put 28+ on them. Whatever Alabama was doing, Georgia looked like they'd never played football in that first half, then Alabama went into ride it out mode and Georgia came back.

Georgia couldn't move the ball against Kentucky, only had 260 total yards against them. Miss State drove it up and down the field on them and he's off the Heupel tree. I won't be stunned if they lose to Ole Miss the week before we play them. They don't appear to be what they've been the last few years.
If they play Kiffen the week before us then I just hope that gave is over by then, with a Kiffen flop on every play it could take a week to get through that game.

Again, not trying to be a downer here, but watch the film breakdown on how UGA stuffed Texas's O. The UGA defense has freak athletes all over the field, and play super disciplined. They just dismantled Texas from the first snap. The first half against Bama is a bigger and bigger outlier by the game.

Not saying it is impossible, but we will need arguably the greatest offensive performance of the year to even get fieldgoals. Back and their WRs have had some issues so we could see another 7-0 or 10-0 game going into the half, but I doubt we score a lot in this one, if at all.

These next 3 weeks are critical as the offense needs every practice and game snap to get out of this funk. Need the second half O to show up for 60 minutes.

No team can get caught looking ahead. Every game has it’s own identity, staying consistent and not looking ahead is part of achieving success. Coaches and players are wise to tune out noise as much as possible and just focus on the next game. GBO, take care of business one game at a time!

Excellent points. But I’m guessing Georgia will be under a 7 pt favorite and Kirby will still be using the “Nobody respects us” spiel. He will have them frothing at the mouth and we’ll have to withstand the initial punches.

I wouldn't doubt it, but it really depends on what goes down the next three weeks. If we come in there steaming hot off of two big conference wins plus the Bama win, you may well be right.

I do think Kirby Smart has outcoached Josh Heupel so far. It isn't just the talent, Georgia's coaching and strategy coming into the games have been superior.
How do you "not like,"a post?

Kirby is undoubtedly a superior coach, coach hype is better.

Smart inherited a winning team with very good talent, CJH inherited a 3 win basket case

According to Fan Duel, Georgia is a 9.5-point favorite over Tennessee. The over/under is currently set at 53.5 points. The Bulldogs being the home team certainly plays a role in this and Georgia has not lost a home game since 2019 against South Carolina

Our oline, especially our tackles, would need to have a great game.
Nico would have to be on target and make better decisions about when to run and not take sacks.
WR need separation and help Nico by making the tough catches.
No turnovers. No stupid penalties.
No long pass plays especially to their TE.
Dline make Herman Munster (I’m sorry but that’s who he looks like) uncomfortable.
Make all field goals.
Catch all punts instead of letting them roll twenty yards.
Quiet the crowd by taking an early lead.
We are going to have to help them by chipping or using TEs a lot. We cannot play them 1 on 1.
