as Corso says not so fast my friend, Meyer is now rethinking his retirement

I am hearing he told the players on the plane that he would NOT be leaving. I am also hearing he is going to take either a break before the 2010 season or for the entirety of the season.
But I thought he was so worried about not being able to spend time with his family and so wanted to put them first???? This sounds strange, could it just be a ploy to keep these recruits, get them to sign and then resign again?? Makes you wonder!
I think it has to do with the recruits. Afraid they might have a few decommit. Keep them thinking he will be back until they can hire a new coach. Not a bad strategy but might be some very unhappy players if it plays out that way.

If it does play out this way, I will pretty embarrassed and angry. This would be completely unacceptable and completely unfair to these kids. I really hope this does not happen but I guess anything is possible.
Like you said anything is possible. But I'm just trying to look at all of the situation. Something just doesn't look right about the situation with this development.
While its possible that something fishy could be going on, I find it much more likely Urban is just pulling a Favre. I can understand him taking time off for health issues and then returning to the game in the future.
But won't this make Urban and Florida look foolish in some way? Pulling a Farve is a great example.
I just think it will make some of these kids question why the first statement came out and then a second statement less than 24 hours later. If I were being recruited there I would have serious questions.

. . .
Meyer broke the news to the team before their boarded their flight to New Orleans, where they will play Cincinnati in the Sugar Bowl on Friday. Assistant coach Dan McCarney confirmed the news before the team left Gainesville, saying of Meyer, "He walked around the practice field today and knew he made a mistake. We don't know if it's going to be one month, three months or six months, but he's coming back."
. . .
yeah addressed the team while leaving for NO so I'm sure at the time Urban had "stepped down".....All I can say is WTF? You're either the coach or not.....Dude has MANY phone calls to make when he touches down in Orleans. This is what she told the news paper about 3 hours before the latest change. It gets stranger and stranger!!!
Orlando Sentinel - Swamp Things – Gators Blog – Urban’s wife: “No chance” Meyer reconsiders quitting
Sources are saying he's going to have surgery and return to coaching after his health improves. He Meyer told the team that he is having a hard time walking away from the players, the program and the University of Florida. He told the players he plans on taking some time away to look after his health, but he couldn't just walk away and leave this team to anyone. As The NY Times reported last night, that in an effort to keep Meyer, UF offered to give him a couple of months of personal time away from coaching. I'm not sure if Addazio is the right guy for the interm coach I would have figured that Dan McCarney would be the name since he's had D1 HC experience but I guess this is the choice Meyer and Foley made until his health can be determined. IMO Meyer won't be back.... kind of like when Alvarez took LOA and later became AD.
