Hubbs and Lewis on Pearl's Future

As of this current moment I'm going to say 60/40 he won't be back.

The "bump" has concerned a lot of people making the decisions it seems.

The fact, and it is a fact, that program supporters are nearly equally split on the issue of stay or go; is a clear indication that it is time to go. If Pearl is suspended for one year, which is highly likely based on precedents of assistant coaches and in consideration of the AA's dim view of lying; they have lost two recruiting classes. Add another year or two to restore back to the point it was and you are now in 2015. As the losses mount, many in the keep Pearl group change their minds. The other group that want him to go now will only grow stronger and louder if the losses continue at the current or higher pace.

In the best interests of UT and its basketball program over the long term it is time to go IMO. If Pearl wants to restore his dignity with UT fans and supporters he should offer his resignation after the season with a lovely parting gift from MH to ease the pain.

One HUGE part of this equation is CBP....remember what he did with less than stellar talent???That's his mantra....SOOOO...we are all spitting into the wind when we make speculations...as Ive said many times...with CBP as our coach...and it took me several seasons to learn this...We ALWAYS have a chance to be good!!!!

As down as I am on Pearl right now, I think that getting worked up over that "bump" violation is idiotic.

I don't think so. This violation occurred within the 2 week period after his tearful press conference in which he said he screwed up but promised to be a good little boy in the future.

Quite honestly, I'm trying to figure out what the hell the AD was thinking for allowing Pearl and his coaching staff to recruit for 2 weeks after the press conference before the recruiting limitations kicked in. I picked up on this bump violation right when the report came out. It was BEYOND STUPID for Pearl to have committed another NCAA violation within 14 days of his press conference.

Pearl's fiasco is a real shame. The man has generated a reservoir of good will, with exciting seasons and charitable works. He seems like a very good man, flawed with a proclivity for deception. Coach tried to coverup something that wasn't even worth lying about. Truth be told, the lies worth investigating were told by officials from the SEC and NCAA, about Cam Newton.

On the continuum of personal ethical fsckuppery, marriage-destroying adultery and a career-threatening scandal for lying to your profession's governing body are both way up there. And Pearl committed both of them within what, three years? The only way you can call Pearl a "very good man" with a straight face is to have such an expansive definition of "good man" that it's meaningless.

Oh, no one could do what Pearl has done. At least I certainly hope the next coach will be much more ethical and won't have serious NCAA sanctions hanging over the program.

No one knows what it will be like if we get another coach success wise. What most people remember tho is what tn basketball was like for 2 decades before bruce. And before i get slammed i do remember the success of coach devoe.

You are basically talking about 8 years, from 90 to 98.

Thought i was being ignored by you? I remember a sweet sixteen. Really good talent he got in but mostly disappointing during his tenure. Disagree?

As soon as I get back to the house and out of my fiftieth meeting today, you're off to Ignore Land. Don't worry.

You pretending Pearl was the only coach to have the slightest bit of success here was too good to pass up.
