Yes, there were apparently. He mentioned on Friday that both Mizzou and GTech had been in touch with him and that he was very interested in one of those two jobs. He wouldn't say which one.

Also, and I didn't here this but Gary Parrish reported that apparently we offered Mack 1.8 a year and he said no, but had we offered 2.5 a year, he thinks we would have gotten him.

GT would have. Mizzou would have, and Purdue would have if they lost their coach. Probably other jobs out there as well for him.

We did not feel good about Stephens and we knew we had to move fast to get Martin- it is pretty simple.

Yeah, I wish we would have waited, been turned down by Stevens and Smart. . .meanwhile Mizzou maybe hires Martin and we end up with Haith or Gottfried. I wouldn't trade places with those who took their time. . .

Considering Stevens turned down nearly $3 million from Oregon, I think Tennessee was pretty realistic about not waiting for Stevens while other good coaches were being snapped up in the meantime.

Since when were major programs beating down the door to get to Martin??? No one outside of the MVC knew who he was before we hired him.

Martin salary was increased 10 fold....you can put up with a lot of ncaa crap for that...Stevens maybe doubled his salary.....not worth the ncaa crap...
