You obviously don't understand the concept of some writer's opinion on ESPN and the school itself calling him a "safety pick." Not surprised you missed that.

I don't make ridiculous statements like you and assert that the school came out and said this. It was being widely reported though by lots of people, and he would have been a logical choice for Purdue.

Still waiting for your link to where Purdue says he was their top choice and next head coach if Painter left....

Apparently you don't understand the same concept of some writer's opinion and the school itself. Practice what you preach bro.

Maybe reading's difficult. I never said that Purdue announced that Cuonzo Martin would be the leading candidate; I did say it was being widely reported. But, nice try at a deflection.

The irony here is thick. Someone who's claiming to know that "we could have waited and still hired Martin" and "no one knew who Martin was" is now accusing others of pretending they're all knowing. I guess that's what you have to do when you're exposed as not really knowing anything.

Clearly you're not as smart as you try to act or you could surely understand the difference in my language of "We could have waited" which is clearly my opinion.. versus me saying "We should have waited" which would still clearly be my opinion but indicating that i know enough about him to say he isn't a good hire. I didn't say that.... so you're the only one here exposing themself as not really knowing anything. I need to call UT tomorrow.. I want my tax dollars back.. your consulting sucks ***.

He most likely would have been the Missouri coach. He wasn't a safety pick for Purdue; he would have been the #1 option had Painter left. Just because you and a couple of others who started watching basketball a couple years ago hadn't heard of him doesn't mean it's a bad hire.

I guess i can't read then. I guess your proclamation that Martin would have been their #1 option.. meant that he wasn't really their number one after all. Is Purdue paying you to consult as well? You have a mighty pretty two-step. How's your dosey doe?

If that's what you got out of what I said, then you absolutely can't read.

Oh, nice. Now, after doing a complete 180 on your original statement, you now pretend that you never passed judgment on the Martin hire in this thread. I guess that smartass "Elite Eight 2013. Book it." wasn't an opinion at all. My bad. But, I will say it's good that you've done your 180 now and conceded that you really didn't have any idea what you were talking about.

You're the one talking about a 180. My position hasn't changed and it won't. We could have waited. I haven't said anything negative about Martin in this thread. I'm expecting him to succeed and I expect an elite 8 run by 2013. Why not? If all these other schools wanted him, and you reccommended his hire to the board.. don't you think you should at least expect him to succeed here too? He's out recruiting, signing recruits, talking positive about the future. Facilities and tradition are here. Do you not think he will win here Law?

Just reading what you wrote bro. You said He was their number 1 option.. and now you say he wasn't, that it was just "a widely held opinion" . Which is it?

Really? So I say that he's a reporter, therefore he reports what has already happened. You then deny that by stating

in response to Hubbs reporting a past event?

Matt Hinkin is reliable, he predicts future events with accuracy. I missed the report a few weeks back when Hubbs said that Stevens would be interviewed, or the one that informed his subscribers that the interview, which he broke would happen, was going well.

Don't take it personal, nothing against you, but Hubbs is nothing more than a reporter.

Edit: Assuming that its not all BS to begin with.

That's what kind of bothers me about Hubbs. He does nothing other then regurgitate what the coaches, players, and the AD tell him for free......then charges people who want to read the story. He's one of the few members of the press that gets access to the practices.

I do expect him to succeed. At what level, I'm not sure. I also have never said that I recommended his hiring to the board. That's a 100% lie. Also, if you're now trying to pass off your smartass statement as being anything other than that, you're not succeeding.

I still say when Creen fails IU will hire Stevens...until then he goes nowhere unless one of the big name/traditional top schools job comes open...just my opinion but he has no reason to leave.

I know this is incredibly difficult to grasp. But, I said he was their #1 option based on what was being reported.

Interesting considering that's not what you said. Is it what you meant? probably... but it's not what you said.

You twisted my comments to paint me as a Martin hater when that's not what I said.. so i'm sure you want me to hold you to the same standards that you hold us to on here. right?

I really like arguing with you. It's amusing. You hate it when others have a differing opinion than you, and if they do, they are automatically "ignorant". Did they teach you that in lawschool? To just call all differing opinions ignorant? or as someone in another thread who was disagreeing with you today said... I'd love to hear you say that in a courtroom.

I didn't twist anything you said. You're pretending that's not what you meant in your attempt to backtrack. You and I both know that; you're not fooling anyone.

Also, you ought to see a distinction in a couple things. Being wrong about things such as "no one else was beating down the doors for Martin" and "Facebook elected Obama" is different from simply having an opinion like "Coach Martin is going to win championships here." What you do is get proven wrong on a consistent basis on here and then try to act as if the people that make you look like a fool "won't tolerate opposing views."

From another thread...

"Pearl went to the elite eight and was 1 point away from the final four. He beat Fla's national championship team both home and away. He took the team to number 1. He had far and away the best rpi rankings. Green was the only coach that even came close to Pearl and he wasn't really that close. My argument that Pearl is the most sucessful coach in UT history can not be refuted because it is truth. I can see you now in court, "your honor the prosecutions argument is just crap". I find you to be very amusing."

I'd love to see you tell a judge he/she is ignorant.

This just keeps getting better. Now, you're quoting a post by jerryvol in an attempt to bolster your argument. Truly classic.

Who's backtracking now? You don't like it when people play the same game as you do you?

If i were a betting man , I'd say at some point in life you came home from school with a report card that said "Does not play well with others".

you're the only one on here I've ever seen tell anyone they're proven wrong on a consistent basis. Since when was this site about being right or wrong?? I thought it was a forum..

Let me educate you for a second..

Hmm... so a forum is a place for discussion of questions of public interest. If I'm entitled to my opinion, then why is it always garbage? and always wrong?

I didn't think that was the purpose of this site.

No, im posting a comment from another user that shows you consistently like to call people's differing opinion's "garbage".

I could list 20 different occasions here where you like to denegrade someone elses view.

What's classic is the number of times you call fellow vol fans "trash" (bruce pearl rally participants).

"Garbage"
"Morons"
"Idiots"
"Stupid"

I've never seen anyone on here bash fellow vol fans as much as you do. ( that is .. after you tell them they're not a real vol fan) All for what reason?? bc they have a different opinion than you.

If i didn't know better.. i'd swear you were a KY or FL troll.

When you say things that are blatantly wrong while passing them off as fact like you did in this thread, expect for people to call you out on it. By the way, I didn't say your opinion is always garbage. However, saying no BCS schools were contacting Martin is not an opinion. I know that's tough to understand.

There you go. When you are simply out of arguments, throw in the "true fan" garbage . I'm sure you can conjure up some more of jerryvol's posts to me to help you out though. I also find this statement particularly interesting when considering my participation in this thread was solely to defend Tennessee's current basketball coach against your incorrect statements about him.

Man i'm glad you stepped in.. I was really bashing the coach hard. Really going at him. I should be stripped of my vol card.. Oh wait, you told me weeks ago I wasn't a vol fan bc i supported Pearl.

OMG . Bruce Pearl isn't the God of TN basketball. I learn something new from you all the time.
