I don't know squat about the goings on so far and I highly doubt that there is more than a handful of people that really know what is taking place and has taken place regarding this hiring process. I haven't seen any hard evidence that can be backed up that Freeze (or anyone else for that matter) was the front runner, just because it was reported CJP interviewed him doesn't necessarily mean he was the solid # 1, even though he may have been and may still be. CJP is playing it very close to the vest and I like that ! I would think that Fulmer and Pruitt have seen what mistakes that Hamilton, Hart and Currie made with allowing leaks everywhere within the Athletic Dept and don't want any part of that madness. I don't think they will let any word out until it's a complete done deal, no mutual understanding or handshake but an ironclad contract that has been signed by both parties and the ink dried.
If I had to venture a guess I think CJP has known exactly who he wanted from the very start and has him in the bag and is just working out the details and/or waiting for their side to get their ducks in a row, or he couldn't get his # 1 guy and is now working on # 2 and pulling all stops to get him. Either way I think he will do his due diligence and will bring in a highly qualified coach and announce him when he's damn good and ready and not before no matter how many fans work up an ulcer over it. Just my opinion.

I periodically make whiny noises on posts, asking exactly what he did to make him regarded as such a great recruiter, but I haven't really heard back. I've been to Oxford, and frankly, you can have it, so I don't really think that it's the thrill of moving to Mississippi.
As a woman, I'm pretty disgusted by the escort service thing (and I don't care if his wife took him back or not, different strokes for different folks), but to me, that's a separate issue on a coach search. CJP doesn't have a stellar track record here either.
But as a Vol fan, I want to know that the sleaze doesn't spill over into recruiting. Not babes for recruits, but the whole crappy world of pay for play and all the rest. We don't need any trouble from the NCAA or SEC, and I'd rather think that we can do a bit better than that. (at least not get caught)

Believe me, I have worked this fact for the last 33 years and six months and (checks calendar) seven days!4 and a half days!dang! My mom was in labor 38 hours with me, I told her I was worth every second![]()
I can take a hint, and I was wrong okay. I didn't have enough taco sauce in the taco casserole, but I added it after it was done!At this point, I believe most fans (what we see on this forum), are just tired. Simply, tired. Older fans remember when the good times rolled, our younger fans, don’t even remember what we saw. At this point, we are latching our wagon on anyone that will bring winning. Period. I still believe Coach Pruitt will find the right OC for our team. It’s his salary on the line to do so. Freeze is the hot commodity now, doesn’t mean he is the only one, and if I’m wrong, I will stand up and say I’m wrong, unlike some. Sorry, had to throw that in.
If you had children who attended this fine institution and who are proud of it for various reasons, including athletics, and were an alumni of it, you would think differently. Age causes one to prioritize differently. Don't get me wrong, I would do many things for UT to be back on top in football, but degrading an institution's integrity to win is not a good way to win IMO. This didn't work out well in the Petrino scenario and it usually doesn't work out well anywhere.
I think you're spot on!! Go get em CJP!!I don't know squat about the goings on so far and I highly doubt that there is more than a handful of people that really know what is taking place and has taken place regarding this hiring process. I don't know what he deserves or doesn't deserve. I am simply giving my opinion that he blew his opportunity to lead young men. I don't think he has the moral character to engage in a profession of this type. If I were the parent of a high school football prospect and Mr. Freeze was contacting my son, I would have some reservations. But that's just me. I also believe there are quality OC's available that have a great moral character. I would opt for one of them.
Agreed, and what folks fail to remember is that we are actually still at that table (or so it seems) unlike the last few searches where we were pawns for a raise. It is a dance for sure, but I’m sure each client is aware what Jimmy has done for them and that he has that same job to do for Hugh. I would bet he is being honest with all of them because he wants them to know about other suitors to get a more solid deal for HF. He’s not “selling” HF to the coaches, they will interview and decide whether or not thats the guy. If they don’t want him nothing Jimmy can do to change that. His job is to float the name and then get a bidding war. It happens all the time and those clients understand that Jimmy can’t give them a “deal” because he is also their agent. They all understand the business side. Jimmy is very good at managing those relationships and expectations.
