Hunter to the Titans

I'm saying this as a Titans fan. The only former Bama player I care about right now is Warmack.

I simply don't understand using what is essentially a late first round pick on a WR when you used a mid first rounder on one last year. Especially when there are solid DLs available.

This isn't about Hunter. It's just a bad, bad pick.

Everyone after Wright on the depth chart is just meh to bad, and at this point Britt (the starting WR) isn't expected to be back after this season

I bet you wouldn't make a peep if it had been Julio Jones.

Maybe you haven't noticed but our closest receiver to 1,000 yards fell 250 yards short. Justin Hunter has potential to be the best receiver on the team down the road. It's not as bad of a pick as you're making it out to be.

Is that just your belief or has this actually been said?

I get the feeling the Titans will re-sign him for the right price. I don't think they'll use the franchise tag or anything unless of course there is no one else to use it on.

He's had his problems but I don't know why they'd let someone with his size and potential just walk out the door. I would love to have both Britt and Hunter's size. Line up on the outside with Wright in the slot or even use Hunter's size and speed in the slot.

Again, with how much off the field trouble Britt has had in consecutive years and it being a contract year, at this point he's not expected to be back next if the same coaching staff is still in place

Okay. That's next year. What if Kenny britt has a pro bowl year and doesn't get in any trouble. Plus they could try to sign a receiver in free agency or draft one next year if they need one. Defense still wins championships, and that is the titans biggest weakness right now.

He's no Manning and he had the same issues in college.

Because he doesn't have the name Manning and his brother didn't play at Tennessee?

I'm simply pointing out that Eli had a passer rating of 55 in his first season and Locker's 2nd season was on par with El's 2nd, 3rd and 4th season.

Locker's stock only dropped after returning for his senior season. I'm not saying he'll be Eli Manning but after the first 4 seasons, nobody thought Eli Manning would be the Eli Manning of today either. Throwing in the towel after a guy has played exactly 1 season(16 games) is pretty ridiculous. Again, his numbers weren't even completely awful. A rating of 74 isn't awful for your 1st season as a starter.

Espn has said it for a while now, almost all off season at least. It's that the coaching staff is sick of him being in police-related newsworthy incidents back to back pretty much every offseason; they don't want to be paying (this much) for a guy who seemingly every year they've had to spend the start of worrying how many games (being paid essentially to play all of them) he's going to miss (or if he'll play at all)...also the back to back injury season haven't helped

But it's pretty much the general feeling from the team's media at this point that if Munchak's still the coach next season, then Britt's not going to be there.

If he's fired, who knows...but it's kind of a "straighten up and fly right" thing with him this offseason/year

Gotchya.

Well maybe if we're lucky he'll break 1,000 yards and grow up. It would be nice if some of our top draft picks panned out and stopped getting in trouble. Seems to happen time and time again.

A need's a need. Clearly they'd rather already have a good receiver in their pocket rather than hope and pray that someone stays out of trouble (and healthy) who's had trouble with it in the past and risk being caught without it

Plus it's not like Washington or in of those WRs behind him are great either; it was still a significant - though maybe not top - need with both issues combined

Hopefully so...that or that Munchak's fired

It might be a miracle if he makes it through the offseason without anything though

You clearly had some merit to your argument. I just had an involuntary reaction. My bad.

I'm glad they got hunter cause he's a vol and all but let's be honest the titans have a lot of needs and they do have Kenny britt and also drafted a receiver in the first round last year. Should have went corner but that's jmho. Although I will be cheering Justin on every Sunday!

What Kenny Britt? The one that has more arrests the last 3 years than he does TD passes... guarantee this is his last year as a Titan and they got J Hunt to prepare for that. They have 7 more picks in a deep DL, DE and DB draft... they'll address those defensive needs today and tomorrow.

In my defense, I've seen every game that JH has suited up for and I know his potential. If I'm getting a chance to draft him, I'll use whatever pick I have to.

It should also been said that the Titans have a history of abysmal second round picks. It would be great if Hunter could break that trend.

Yeah, noted.

Even all the way back to Kent...did he have some sort of leg injury issue or something also?
