Hyams said Patterson is "Challenged"

Yes, another idiot millionaire. If he really isn't that bright, he'll be pumping gas in the next 10 years. Sorry, I get frustrated by the fact that there are many hard working individuals that have trouble paying their bills, but work extremely hard and athletes get millions and can't spell their name.

You get paid what you are worth and because people like you and me LOVE football and spend money to watch it people like CP are worth more than those "hard working individuals".

If you don't like it then stop watching football.

No, I'll still watch, but they can't expect me or anyone else to feel sorry for them when they're on an ESPN 30 for 30 talking about how broke they are, that they were cheated by their agent and financial guys, and owe their baby mama tons of money. And trust me, a lot of them will want you to feel sorry for them.

My oldest son has taught me that being "challenged" (he has ADHD) can be overcome with hard work and determination and this father could not be prouder!

I will never knock a person's mental ability nor comment on it because I do not know and I am not with them, work ethic however is fair game.

This cracks me up, I remember the same rumors going around that he wouldn't have a chance in hell to even qualify this year... that was bunk. I think if his grade is 1st round, he goes, but to say he can't come back? I doubt it.

Pretty tacky to take a shot at CP for this if true. He has been a great player for us, stayed out of trouble, and deserves everything he is going to get on the next level. No reason whatsoever to bash on him for any type of learning disabilties he may or may not have.

Who's banging on the kid? It just is what it is. I wouldn't have used the word "challenged", but it's not like it makes him a bad person.

There is a lot wrong here. I've never understood why people complain about professional athletes earning what they earn. If the money wasn't there, the owners wouldn't pay. Plus, professional athletes do work hard, have high pressure jobs and can lose their career in a snap of a ligament. And there is the potential that the job will disable him to the point that even pumping gas will be difficult. You want to complain about something, complain about society's misguided values, not the kid who is just trying to make his way the only way he can.

Completely agree. While millions of dollars would be great, I'm not sure how much I would take for the full use of my back, knees, joints, neck, etc.

The guy can't run a simple pass pattern, I'd say his challenges go beyond the classroom...he will be one hell of a KR/PR in the NFL but guys that can't be counted on to learn the play book don't do much position wise up there.

Clowney is just as bad except USCjr made an exception for him declaring him "special needs" or something like that & saying a learning disability or whatever shouldn't keep a kid from a college education. Lol whatever. He had a tutor with him while he took the SAT.

I would like to let CP read this thread and then lock him in a room with Hyams. Then we might see who is challenged.

How do you think he would feel if and when he reads threads like this, how his mother would take it. For me if I were them I would feel betrayed and disappointed, especially with the effort he's giving the university. Regardless of what you think he could've went to just about any D1 school in the country. Im truly thankful that he and his family chose to share his talents with us.

UT's had plenty of playmakers in their history who struggled a bit with the playbook, in the classroom, etc but were studs on the field. It means little about their future. I mean, he could even end up being a Congressman or something

Exactly the guy I was thinking of.

how is it any different for banging on a kid for the physical skills he was born with or without, i.e. speed, strength, size, hands, etc.?

Because those lesser athletes are competing in CPs world. If CP was going for his masters in physics then flame away. Ragging on an athletes book smarts is like ragging on a Dr for having a bad jump shot.

Obviously not. According to these posters, if you didn't graduate with honors from UT, all you will ever be is a return man in the NFL.

I don't think for a second he sdumb or even slow. When you talk to him he's as normal as any kid his age. Bad study habits? Maybe but as was posted "smart as a rock" is not true. He's a good guy.
