Hyams said Patterson is "Challenged"

Didn't expect to play this year....?

And every big time WR recruit that was interviewed has said the staff was telling them we had 3 WR's (Da'Rick before dismissal)expected to go pro. So yes, one and done as soon as he finished summer school and enrolled.

You don't know what your talking about! If he "knew" he was one and done, he wouldn't have made his comment about not being sure he was even going to play this year.

Nobody likes doing things they aren't good at and class is one of those for CP I'm not gona fault him for it. I don't like school either. I did four years in the marine's
and some Tech school and I can do the work. But don't like it and some can't do the work and well you know what I'm saying so he should take the easiest classes he can if he stays or Declare nothing wrong with that.

That's a shame, I hope he is able to go far with his football career. One of the things I don't care for when it comes to student athletes, is not pushing them to work hard in the classroom.

Good athletic performance and good scholastic performance are not mutually exclusive.

How do you think he would feel if and when he reads threads like this, how his mother would take it. For me if I were them I would feel betrayed and disappointed, especially with the effort he's giving the university. Regardless of what you think he could've went to just about any D1 school in the country. Im truly thankful that he and his family chose to share his talents with us.

Thank you for saying that...I now live in Ky and when things were not going so well for their basketball under Gillespie, it killed me how the blogs, news and the area talked about the kids playing there..THESE ATHLETES ARE STILL KIDS..If their child had a difficult time learning or not so good in the classroom, the family would be upset to hear them talked about like that..Do our fans even realize that the junk put on here gets back to the kids we should show love to and support, at least those who are not robbing liquor stores and such...If u were considering UT and read some of the things "Vol Fans" say about the kids giving their all for the school, might it affect your decision...The school makes millions off these kids every year, and what do they get in return, a whole lot of B*llsh*t talked about them...Its really sad

Why would he say that? Why did they tell WR recruits that?

Agreed. So he isn't book smart, big deal. He has another God-given skill set that makes him far more valuable monetarily than 99.9% of all other college students.

Uh...yeah I don't think so. People going to school to be doctors, scientist etc are a lot better off than most professional athletes, because most professional athletes are broke by the time they get done with sports unless they are smart, which most like CP are not.

CP is a player. He gave us 100%. He must go pro. He can't do the classwork, and he struggles with the playbook. But, repitition will be his friend, I hope. We'll lose Hunter too. Eventhough he's soft, and a chicken ****. If Bray stays, great. If not, great. I mean, Peyton Manning left in 97'. We were all like......"Omg! What the hell are we gonna do now"?

I sat next to a ton of folks at UT, without athletic prospect, that didn't give two rips about their education.....and they didn't even have a back up plan.

Example: Vince Young -- broke at what, 30?

Hyams shouldn't talk about anybody being challenged. He is mentally and physically challenged and needs to worry about himself

Wish nothing but the best to CP. He brought excitement to the program. He may not be the smartest young man, but he's just chasing his dream to be in the NFL. Good luck Cordarrelle.

Bunch of d-bags in this thread. None of you have seen this kid's grades unless you're an Academics Department employee, and sharing them would be illegal. Therefore, who are you (besides some Internet tough guy), to say that CP is or isn't intelligent? It's all rumors and speculation.

He can play ball, I know that, and was smart enough to come to the University of Tennessee, and that's enough for me.

I hope he stays one more year and beats Johnny football for the heisman next year!

Who's bagging on CP? I see the majority of posters tearing Hyams a new one, and justifiably so. But nothing really derogatory about CP aside from maybe one or 2 posters.

I'm personally glad that CP came to UT and showcased his skills. He was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal campaign.

If "challenged" means he's unable to find his classroom then yeah, I guess I could buy that. However if the reports are true, that he's not even showing up for class then I would find it very hard to sympathize with him.

Yes, another idiot millionaire. If he really isn't that bright, he'll be pumping gas in the next 10 years. Sorry, I get frustrated by the fact that there are many hard working individuals that have trouble paying their bills, but work extremely hard and athletes get millions and can't spell their name.

Envy much? Get over it, life is good in this country, whether you can run or not.

Because those lesser athletes are competing in CPs world. If CP was going for his masters in physics then flame away. Ragging on an athletes book smarts is like ragging on a Dr for having a bad jump shot.

"challenged" as it relates to his knowledge of geometry or whatever, i agree no need to rag on him outside of meeting the standards to stay in school.

but, "smarts" as in being able to learn and remember routes and assignments plays a big role in his football performance and is part of his skill set, just like speed, hands, etc. and imo is open to analysis. or should be.

These are the same people who wonder why former Tennessee players mention their high school during their NFL intros instead of UT.
