Of course. Could a conservative Democrat not find a home with the Democrats or Moderates? Or Republicans?My problem with this is that you can have progressive Republicans and conservative Democrats. I think maybe we need to think outside the box for names.
What makes you think it would be an even split. Most of the money and industry is in the democratic states.

Like liberal cities most people would flock to the liberal side out of emotions, or biases or ignorance then in 10-15 years come crawling back to where taxes are low, cities are safer, and families can live normal lives

A progressive Republican might never align with the Progressives, but might find a candidate with the Democrats or Moderates.
I’m open to new naming conventions. I think it more important to create more spaces for differing ideologies.
Our (mostly) binary system is struggling.
I would choose the "conservative" country. But I would expect the conservative country to adhere to conserving the principles of our constitution. I am not interested in conserving societal / cultural norms which are in opposition to our constitution's precepts.Only the current policy positions. Outcomes would based on decisions associated with those positions.
