I am sorry, I want us to get a new offensive coordinator

I think people are concerned about upcoming games vs big time talent on Defense. Just a
This is example of numbers vs. eye test. Look at the run game in the red zone. Take that drive where we got the INT and the ball on the ten yard line and then ran 4 straight times to give the ball back to Miss State with a goose egg. That is an example of the frustrating play calls.

Our offensive woes have been a discussion point all season. I don't understand the denial posts about it when the media and others have openly discussed Tennessee's offense. I think we do a decent job moving the ball but we definitely have red zone woes and challenges converting the yards to

Nobody is denying we have to play better in the first half and at times in general. A lot of our problems aren’t play calling it’s execution, sure all teams make bad calls now and then but fans always want to blend bad execution into bad play call. But there have also been positives. We have also came out and scored well in the second half of games. The inside runs that don’t get much seem to work early start working as the game goes on. Then the passing starts working better. Our D has been stout all year, probably as good as anyone. We have played better the last 2 games and if Nico had played we probably score at least 40. Yes we have to keep getting better on offense and our D has to keep playing to it’s max ability. But we are 8-1 and we have a tough team. If the offense can keep improving and we stay healthy and our D keeps pouring it on we can play with anybody. But in today’s game there are very few gimme games. But we match up with Georgia, they aren’t going to push us around. GBO

Seems like the play calling suddenly got more creative when Gaston was playing. I missed maybe 30% of the second half attending to a minor emergency at home, so maybe I just happened to catch a the only creative plays?

Play calling has been bad at times. Overall, I don't think it's been that bad though. Definitely not close to bad enough to warrant a firing. Receivers are getting open. Drops, turnovers, and penalties have been major issues this season, which has nothing to do with the play calling.

The play calling isn't the problem execution is
For the most part you are right. But there have been some really, really bad play calls at key times this year. I mean real head scratchers. I have a feeling it’s due to Nico’s youth and inexperience. I know we all go back to 2022. Remember that was Hookers second full year as a starter in the system and his 5th year as a college QB.

We’re in the middle of November and still have a reasonable chance in the national title picture and we’re talking about coaches getting fired. Truly sad stuff.
They don't even realize calling for a "new OC" is essentially calling for a new HC. CJH calls the plays. He has a play call sheet and clearly is reading off the sheet and talking into the headset on offense. It's easy to tell if a HC is calling plays. If he has a play sheet in his hand constantly, he is calling the plays. If he is standing there with his arms crossed, he isn't.

This play calling is so frustrating and uncreative.

EDIT: Probably an overreaction post and my apologies but there has been frustration a times throughout this year. Guess we need to trust the system that got us to 8-1.
Heupel is the play caller and he doesn’t fully trust Nico yet. That’s the reality. If he did and Nico was as good as Hooker, the offense would be on fire like it was in 2022. But it’s not and it’s frustrating because we were told Nico was a generational QB. He’s good but nothing I’ve seen screams he’s generational good.

Nico has regressed?

You can't make up this kind of stupid. The entirety of the post too
Not to mention that guy's are schemed open every game almost all game. There have been huge plays missed due to Nico missing the throw, some (KY game) were on point to guys wide open and they didn't make the catch. You're talking about a ton of points left on the field due to execution, not play calling. The people clamoring for Alex Golesh amuse me to no end.

That being said, this is Nico's first year playing at this level. Hooker and Joe had multiple years of experience. Nico's talent clearly flashes, if you can't see that, you dont know ball...

Didn’t I say he was good. But, generational good he is not. Will he grow and become that? Who knows. Or he may have hit his ceiling. Time will tell.
