To me, our offense is based on flow. One play sets up the next, sets up the next etc... The biggest problem has been 1st Nico's accuracy, followed by untimely drops and throw in a few fumbles. All offenses become fairly predictable during a set of downs when the drop or miss open passes. This is not a knock on Nico, he is a stud and seemed to be in a little mental funk. People are getting open. Our run game is good. Not much else you can ask from the play calling, it is execution that is keeping us from looking like a true NC contender.

It isn't the worse offense but the play calling has been iffy several times tonight and has been all year long.

Perhaps you haven't looked into how these rankings are made. I suggest you educate and dig in besides just yelling "why we runin up the muddle again." Bc you clearly don't get how they are derived

I think the thing they lost with Golesh was his ability to see the mismatches quick from the box and draw up those explosive plays we saw in 2022. But the biggest thing was the players executed those big plays most of the time. We've had plenty of opportunities to create those explosive plays and just haven't executed unfortunately.

We ran for 240, we passed well overall. Sampson has went over a 100 every freakin week. I don’t think you could satisfy all our fans no matter who called plays. Football isn’t easy, we scored 33 and a few plays from having much more. Lots of time it isn’t the play that’s called it’s the execution of it. We have ran a lot in first half all year, but what it has done is wear teams down and we start gashing and then hit passes. We are 8-1, let’s let the year play out before some of you all try to start firing folks. Dadgum, this place kills me sometimes. GBO!!!!

These ppl don’t understand what you mean execution. Just ignore them, trust me it’s like talking to a wall.

I'd like to see a few more throws over the middle too. We have to get better in the red zone. Gibson getting his groove back was sorely needed tonight. But I'd love to need him less.

There might not be a better example on any football message board in the history of the internet of most people having not the first clue of what good play calling actually is than what a lot on here have said about Josh Heupel the last two years(this year and 23, not 22), and Tim Banks for 3 years/before this year.

I feel the same way. Play calling reeks. Sampson up the middle, repeat and rinse. Imagine how many yards he could have if the defense didn't know every play that he was going to get the ball up the middle and stack the box waiting on him. Throw the dang ball..

This offense , unless it changes, will not beat a Georgia team playing in their house. Sorry, not being a nega Vols, just being honest. Too inconsistent , too slow to get started , and good teams won't keep letting you have opportunities to score like Ms St and others.

Plays have been there because the scheme is still good. The scheme can still break a defense even if a sequence is full of other poor play calls, it’s one of Heupel’s saving graces.

Golesh did a great job of scheming up multiple looks from the same/similar formation that forced the defense to guess on routes and run fits vs play action. We need to get more creative in that aspect to get those wide open Hyatt TDs regularly again.
