Hyatt got that open because of how quickly he ran his routes. He was on the db so quick that it forced the corner to declare his coverage and it also sped up Hookers read process. These receivers are not anything like Hyatt. And even saying that, we've had some guys running open. We just have to hit more of them. Particularly on Saturday night in Athens...Plays have been there because the scheme is still good. The scheme can still break a defense even if a sequence is full of other poor play calls, it’s one of Heupel’s saving graces.
Golesh did a great job of scheming up multiple looks from the same/similar formation that forced the defense to guess on routes and run fits vs play action. We need to get more creative in that aspect to get those wide open Hyatt TDs regularly again.
This is basically the same thing UGA is going through. With Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey, Carson Beck was a Heisman candidate & sure 1st rounder driving a Lambo now their fans have him as a Undrafted-FA and OC Bobo needs to be fired by UGA board, having NFL type receivers is way underrated IMO.Just now understanding the effect Hyatt had. Instead of being frustrated with the play calling be frustrated with the lack of separation & playmakers by WRs that opened up the playbook.
Yes, I understand the frustration about the offense but Golesh is not the reason. We are missing the right mix of QB, WR and OL to be as dangerous as 2022. If one of those is lacking it throws everything off, if all 3 are lacking you get what we are seeing.and South Florida is terrible this year they just got romped by Navy 28 to 7. So we wish we could score like Golesh led USF
