I am worried re: QB's

CBJ wants his QB just to get the dang gone ball to the play makers and let them do the work. CBJ does not have his QB on campus yet......and I don't think Dobbs is quite what the staff thought he was, yes he can run, but he is careless with the ball, it is what it is, of all the positions that this staff has improved, QB is not one of them. I like these guys, there good people, but they don't have that swagger and a guy that says "hey, I got this!"

When you read things like this...

And watch the clips that are made available from practices...

I don't care who you are...if you care about Tennessee Football...you are concerned with our lack of finding a "SEC Caliber QB".

You must not have been reading the recruiting news lately. We have found and recruited awesome QB talent - and not just one - Quinten Dormady, Jauan Jennings :clapping:

Problem is, it doesnt get here until 2015 :cray:

on the plus side, we also just picked up Austin Kendall for 2016 - so future looks VERY bright for QB but this year looks pretty scary.

To the coach a QB is never going to be good enough there are always errant throws, some bad reads, a little bit of sloppiness at times, and a coach is always looking for perfection. It's to early in camp to know what's really going on. I think Worley and Dobbs will be fine. Let's give all these QB threads a rest, all they do is get some ready to call it a season before it begins. GBO!

The world is NOT coming to an end people! We will have a qb that can manage the game, and be serviceable. It's a good thing misery loves company, or you'd all be by yourself with a split personality.

No, you're not getting it.

Dude.

We have videos that are 10:00 long. I don't care if practice is 2 hours long.

We have snippets of video evidence that show that the situation is dire.

SDS just said we're going 4-8.

Worley can't complete a pass.

Dobbs has no eyebrows.

Dude.

Seriously.

We've all seen the practice clips and we've all played NCAA 2013 enough to know this team is bad.

My sarcasm meter just broke lol

If our QBs show no improvement over last year, we need to hire a separate QB coach and let Bajakian just focus on running the overall offense.

I don't believe anyone believes the the sky is falling, this is a fan driven blog with meaningful insight into the various positions. ALL UT QBs will be compared to Peyton, like it or not, from day 1 he took control. Ainge is not Peyton, but I would take Ainge at this moment if Peyton's son was not available :)

As long as we (Fans) keep it fairly clean, I think the QB play at this point has not improved, AS OF TODAY, now could it as the years progresses?.......yes.

So, let us discuss the position battles like all the other fans..........PLEASE!

Just enjoy the ride, most of it is coaches speak to push all of the players...WR that had multiple multiple drops.

TENN Recruiting QB's
2014- none
2013- Dobbs- 3 star
Ferg- gone
2012- Peterman- 4 star
2011- Worley- 3 star
An unbiased observer would look at 4 years of recruiting and see only one 4 star recruit. They would also see only 4 QB's over 4 years. No 5 star recruits. I realize "stars" aren't fool proof, but they do provide a baseline to compare players. CDD and CBJ have contributed to this "mess"of our QB situation. 2014 was an awesome class, but I think not getting a QB will haunt us in the future. Our WR's are top rated prospects and studs. If we even had a "B" at QB, we would be a 7 win team. But since we are loaded with "C" QB's, we will be a .500 team at best.

Dobbs was a 247 composite 4 star & #10 pro QB

AJ McCarron was a 247 composite 4 star & #7 Pro QB

I guess that spread between #7 and #10 is pretty damning

If "Ifs" and "Buts" were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas.

We are a 5 win team at best if the QB play doesn't get better. The running game will be a challenge with a new OL so Bajakian needs to lean on all this talent at the WR position.

How do you know this? How do you know our new OL will not be our strength? No one knows anything but the coaches. Worry about something else...worry about Israel, or ISIS, or hungry children, or mental illness, but don't worry about the unknown pieces of our football team. CBJ has got this.

This is exactly why I believe we're gonna be running the ball more than expected, even with a new OL. Lane, Hurd and Pickett are gonna be HEAVILY depended on this year with how our QB play will be.

No need to hit the panic button yet. Relax early fall camp offense is about timing and shaking some rust off. It's pretty apparent that's what's causing a majority of the bad throws even in the "air defense" drills. As far as the red zone drills and 1on1s. the defense is almost always ahead because it's more about reacting, whereas there's more to it on the offensive side. Just my .02 cents

One of the things we should remember in this discussion is that Worley threw for a gazillion yards in high school. He placed 4th in accuracy out of a whole bunch of quarterbacks in camp this summer.

Maybe the problem is not all Worley's. Especially, since the other quarterbacks don't seem to be doing well, either.

Something's got them all flustered. I'm not sure that all the blame should be on the QB's.

I think AJ is a "b-" QB. I am talking STUD QB's. How would you feel if we had PSU's QB going into his sophomore year with our WR's?

After thinking about it, we really need to give CBJ 6 more years to recruit the talent he needs. By then we might get a bowl game and that would be awesome. We just have to be patient.

Ask some of the folks around here if I am preaching anything like that long of a leash for Jones...

All I am saying is that practice reports very often DO NOT reflect reality in August.... especially early August.

Let them actually face an opponent before declaring that the ship is sinking. Remember, the last time these 3 guys were put in a game atmosphere scrimmage (O&W game)... they posted some really good stats and performed well. Worley even broke off a big run.

No coach likes their QBs at the start of a camp. Go back and read about our QBs to start spring practice, and you will see the same things said. People who are freaking out over this need to take a step back. Worley helped us win against a Top 10 team last season, so I'm not for sure why people are freaking out. We are going to have a MUCH better running game this year, so it will take a lot of the pressure off of him to be perfect.

Worley gets way too much credit for the win against Uscjr. North is the one who deserves all the praise. Jmo

I probably should be posting more in the ISIS forum then. I wish I shared your blind optimism.

OK. You have your agenda. Maybe he gets too much credit for beating SC. Could he be getting too much blame through practice 6 in fall camp? Even if he stunk during the SC game, we still won. :pepper: Has he regressed since last year? Is there a possibility that he could be slightly better this season given the new weapons at his disposal?

As the upstanding citizen Allen Iverson quipped: "It's practice man--we talkin about practice man"

I don't have an agenda. I just know the reason a lot of folks are ok with Worley is because we beat uscjr while he was QB. I'm for the best QB regardless of who it is.

We can *****, moan, and speculate all we want, but if you think Peterman is not in the race at this point you're lying to yourself.
