I just saw a tight shot of Tebow...

running the ball in the title game against the sooners. The guy actually has John 3:16 on his eye black--the word 'John' under one eye and "3:16" under another. I know he's very religious but good grief...get a grip, dude. If you're a believer, or religious, great--but in my view it should be a personal thing, a quiet, at home or in the church thing. But with so many Christian zealots it's not--gotta try to pull everybody else out on that faith limb with me.

After I post this, though, I will feel good and point a finger up toward the sky....

You have no clue.

Him wearing Bible versus under his eyes reminds me of what Peter and John said in Acts..."For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard."

God has blessed him with ability, and a medium to which he can reach people that many couldn't.

I admire him, and for what he stands for.

Because we have been forced to cater to everyone elses needs, disregarding our own believes. This has become a problem and will be the downfall of America
I love stuff like this, especially when the poster has a demon as an avatar.

I think he has won. He is almost universally acclaimed as a great guy, yadda, yadda.......

I just think in your face, over the top proselytizing hurts more than it helps. Being a great example, living according to the Bible and carrying the word to people in a personal manner is more effective IMO. The public display stuff is a huge turnoff. Again, my opinion.

How is one bible verse on his eye paint over the top??

I'll just say that it hasn't been limited to that eye paint. We're also talking about wearing it on your sleeve. Those loudly proclaiming their own godliness tend to be stumbling blocks more often than not.

I understand where you are coming from and I think it holds merit. But Christians are taught to carry the gospel with them, live it and do all things for Christ. I personally have no problem with people like Tebow whose biggest strike so far seems that he gets a little over emotional during a football game and does the Gator Chomp.

There are some that we all know (including ourselves) that act like men of God and then consistently belittle people and show absolutely no acts of humility or acts of respect to their fellow men.

I dont even know where to begin. I would suggest that you dont have a true understanding of what it means to be a Christian. As a Christian we are called to share our faith, it's called the great commission. I think it was great thing for him to do and I applaud it.

I don't blame TT for it as much as I blame CBS, Fox, etc for the ridiculous, over-the-top pieces they do every time he plays. I turn the channel when that lovefest starts

we rag on a guy for wearing something that has a good meaning behind it, but when some thug wheres some clothes that represent a dredge of society (drugs, gangs etc) it makes some sore of fashion statement or considered cool? there are some wires crossed here. I would rather have my kid look up to someone like tebow compared to someone who "loves me some me"

I agree and admit I am guilty

the Crusades happened as an extension of the Great Commission. There is clearly a point where it is hurting more than it can be helping.

In fact, I'd bet you today that the positive response to Tebow's outward show is almost exclusive to Christians. Those who aren't probably find it way over the top and nearly repulsive.

^this..

besides, we dont have this argument if TT is a 3* punter now do we..

face it, youre just mad he and his team have been better than us.

the fact he is a Christian and proclaims his faith is irrelevant. Youre just looking to bring him down. Im glad youre not my God...

They're his eyes. He could paint Satan under one and 666 under the other if he wants to.

Papa, you got me on that!! And I am not one of the bible thumping, fire and brimestoners. I just believe this country was based on Christian morals and values, and if we veer from that path, we will loose our identity and moral character that has made this country great.

his work in prisons and outside the country would cause me to disagree.

fair enough, but I'd suggest that such a message just doesn't resonate very well with those you're trying to convince of its veracity.

I can't speak for the A&M kicker, but Tebow praises God for giving him the gifts that he has been given, not for beating OU or anyone else. The role of a Christian is to spread the word and increase the number of believers. How are you going to do that by keeping it at home or in the church. If you're in the church you are likely already a believer or on the verge of becoming one. Props to Tebow for doing what he (and I) believe are the right things to do.

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't there a story in the bible where Jesus chastises some of his followers for their extreme outward profession of their faith to others?

also, i'm not suddenly going to go back to church (or start attending) because Timtebow thanks god on national TV.

it's one thing to preach your faith to others like he does when he goes on missions and what have you. it's an entire other thing to use football and national TV as your platform to profess your faith. i think that's the issue people have.

How do you get that he's proclaiming his own Godliness out of putting a verse in his eyeblack?

Is the Great Commission related to the Warren Commission? Maybe Tebow can create the "magic Bible Theory."
