I just saw a tight shot of Tebow...

Giving thanks to his lord and savior in his interviews is no different from tons of other athletes. Tons do and you know it. However, Tebow seems to be interviewed and in front of the cameras more than most. Agree?
The press has certainly singled him out, but I believe he has been a big part of how he's portrayed by them. He's pushing to use his platform to be in your face.

If he were simply giving thanks where due like other folks, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Roger Mason did that last night after drilling the Lakers with a dagger and I haven't heard one mention of it today.

I went to a very conservative christian school, and I can tell you it is impossible to get laid at a place like that without being over the top and knowing your scripture.

I don't know if it really turns people off, but I do agree that nothing fires the evangelical christian community up more than seeing John 3:16 on television in any form or fashion.
 Beautiful

so if we're to blindly follow the Lord and all his teachings, why did he give us the gifts of free will and intellect?

you know, the ability to choose and think for ourselves.

God hates the Lakers.

proclaiming loudly from the rooftops your model Christianity is absolutely a turnoff. See Swaggert comma Jimmy for a good example.

How does Jimmy Swaggert compare to TT? Does TT have a huge television ministry? Does he chafe against any form of accountability as Swaggert did? Does he rebel against authority as Swaggert did? Why not compare TT to Billy Grahamn or Joel osteen? You choose to compare him to someone that fell not because they proclaimed Jesus, but because they fell prey to absolute power.

All he says in his interviews is he would like to thank his lord and savior Jesus Christ. How is that shoving it down anyones throat?

it has not been limited to the eye black. It's an ongoing over the top, in your face look at his amazing Christian walk. I'm saying that's a turn off to those on the outside looking in.

Christ confronted and offended people... that's the nature of Christianity from the very start. People do not want to face their own sinfulness in the face of God's holiness... much less consider that they'll be judged or face God's wrath. If most people were truthful or else knowledgeable, they'd admit their problem really isn't with Christians but with the Christ of the Bible.

I'm sure Rex can answer this question a lot better than I can.

Actually, I do not want to face some pimply faced kid spouting fairy tales on my doorstep early on a morning when I'm hung over.

Christ confronted and offended people as a part of his function. I have no problem with the Christ of the Bible. I have a problem with the way some turn the Great Commission into a request for loud Christianity. Those outside the fold clearly can't stand it, so why not find another method?

Because Jesus, just like TT doesnt want to force himself on anyone. He wants everyone to accept and follow him, but he will not force them to, that defeats the purpose of him creating us as humans. So that we would choose to follow him, no matter what the consequences...such as getting bashed on a public forum. :good!:

The ridiculous feel goods done by any network simply serve to amplify his message. John 3:16 on his cheek for the TV is simply another part of that. I'm not condemning him for it. I simply think it's overdone and probably hurts more than it helps.
