I love the Vols but...

Going from a program that has previously been very successful to 7-8 years of losing....creates chaos and fan apathy....it doesn't make any difference which school or program we are speaking of.....this happens at any and all college programs....peroid. I've seen this happen at various programs across the country....winning changes everything and I mean everything

Yeah while your calling us ignorant, Here is what Alabama fans were talking about.

1.We should fire our OC, he lost to AtM.

2.Saban is going to retire at Alabama.(lmao)

3. When we beat ND this year, who do you think we will play in next years NC game?

4 Aj is the best QB in the country.

5 Sal is a really good coach, Tennessee just sucks.

Go on Tidefan.com, there are hundreds of these posts.

and your calling us idiots?

I've never started a thread for the sole purpose of called our fanbase ignorant like the OP, so not sure what you're getting at.

And pointing out the obvious makes me arrogant?

Have you seen what our fan base has been saying and doing lately? Or are you just out to prove my point?

For the most part, I can't stand the fans. It's not a stab at anyone on the boards, I just notice how incredibly ignorant our fan base is.

Everyone fill in the blank!

You are so right...if it wasn't for all of the ignorant Vol fan base then The University of Tennessee would definately be ________________

Cannot help but believe that a big part of Vol nation is very young people. Those of us who have been watching the Vols for 50 years understand a little more what we are seeing. Not that we are any smarter , we have been there , done that.

Sorry, you certainly have the experience, but it doesn't require that type of wisdom to recognize what we have been seeing in Knoxville for the past ten years. I believe we are now finally seeing the beginning of progress

Its usually the ones that think they're the smartest that are actually the dumbest.

Show me a fan base that doesn't basically act like we act and I'll show you a fan base that doesn't care! It's Called passion...

It might begin with the teaching of how to spell definitely

I am not trying to be the spelling police here but slamming UT fans here is just unbelievable
How about you walk into a police station and talk about how stupid police officers are and see how far that gets you?

Everyone fill in the blank!

You are so right...if it wasn't for all of the ignorant Vol fan base then The University of Tennessee would definately be ________________

Yeah, expecting 8 wins is just too much, isn't it? If you really feel that, then you should pull for us to go to the ACC. Stop this crap with our "ignorant fanbase" - Bama fired Curry just because he couldn't beat Auburn. If you think our fan base is the worst, then go away and go put on some crimson. Stupid post.

I would rather have my ignorance than another man's knowledge, because I have got so much more of it.

The OP posted that he can't stand the fans and called them incredibly ignorant and at least 32 of the them gave him "likes" for it. Wow

Not as bad as it used to be.

From 98 to the early 2000s, UT fans were basically what Bammer fans are now, IMO.

Are you being disingeuous or did you not spend much time on this board this season? Plenty of Dooley defenders argued that TN fans shouldn't expect to win anymore than what Dooley was doing (i.e. the worst conference record in school history). If that's your version of "logic", then I'm very sorry for you.

Too bad you couldn't recognize until after the Missouri game that Derek Dooley was a terrible coach. I guess the 4-17 conference record was a little too ambiguous for you? Or was a repeated history of failure okay, as long as it still seemed, to you, that he "wanted to win"? Great logic there.

Let's see, you start threads celebrating your win over Dooley, you enjoy the fact that you were right and we sucked and you attack reasonable posters who simply wanted to support the program and team. Yeah, you're the better fan.

I think you may be right, my logic is certainly flawed since I believed you wanted to have a discussion.

I'm a peace loving man, but you make me want to punch something.

Here is the bottom line, you were right, everyone else was wrong, now, please, for the love of all sane people everywhere, go be right by yourself and leave us alone.

The statement -I love the Vols- should never be followed by a "but".

Passion comes in many forms. Idiots are everywhere.

Would the following post be considered ignorant?

"I've been pro Dooley for a while. The last few weeks wore that down. Now, I'm done. GTFO of our stadium"

Are you excluding yourself from the ignorant fan base? If yes why

Some of ours are crazy, but not as bad as some teams. I live in georgia about 40 miles outside of athens and remember how they treated their team the night they lost to south carolina. Every time they lose or have a close game most of the people I know want mark richt fired. There are good and bad in all fan bases. I went to the vols/dawgs game and was the only vol fan in my whole section, yet when we came back and had them on their heels there were some fans giving me high 5 saying your boys are making a game out of it.

I don't know what thread you're talking about where I am "celebrating [a] win". Haven't been able to celebrate any such thing in a long time thanks to that Dooley guy you supported. And I've said many times that being right about the hire from the beginning is no comfort to me. I would have loved to have been wrong. (Plus, it's not like it's evidence of any skill or wisdom to be able to predict that Dooley would be a miserable failure. Any sane, logical person could tell that based on his previous record).

You can play the passive aggressive victim all you want, but the fact remains that the guys who came on here the last three years attacking others and claiming to be the better fans weren't the skeptics, they were the Dooley supporters. I've never proposed a "you're not a true fan unless..." argument, so maybe you have me confused with someone else.

I'm sorry we can't have a "discussion". I guess I didn't realize that's what you were looking for, since you started things off by attacking my logic. Then when I demonstrate the flaws in your argument, you now decide to play straw man games and just make up stuff I've said. If that's your version of a "discussion", I guess you're right, I don't have any use for it.

It's kind of like a bad marriage. Sure, you were drunk and desperate when you married her. And yes, she's horrible. But, you try to make the best of it until the inevitable happens.

I compare it to drilling for oil. Eventually wildcatters realize its probably a dry hole and they pull up stake and move on. Trey Burton running 80 yds made me realize Tennessee was drilling a dry hole.....time to move on.
