I retract my UK statements

Let me get this straight. A guy on a UT board has a friend that is friends with Poythress' high school coach and heard Cal offer him money? :eek:lol And you're serious?

What surprises me.... 50 sports writers are constantly searching for an inkling of a tip that Cal cheats. Along with other coaches and the NCAA, yet the only evidence is our "friend of a friend" stories on sports forums.

i dont care if you dont believe me, im done arguing with you.

Its not that I dont believe you. Its that I dont believe your source. With todays eyeballs on the programs, and especially Cal....the story would have broke a long time ago. And the fact that you think Cal has to pay a kid to come to UK is hilarious.

I've enjoyed our discussion. Again, congrats on the big win. You guys played balls to the wall and deserve it. Best of luck the rest of the season. :hi:

I'm not even sure they'll make the NIT. They've thrown in the towel. No hustle, no energy, they just didnt care to be there from tip-off.

I agree with you man - Kentucky looked like total garbage today. If I were a UK fan I probably would have done something similar to the epic display of internet butthurt you've treated us to today. Have a great rest of the season, jackass!

Lol your poor little putty cats got destroyed. Say what you want about our basketball program...we just beat you by 30 points. Yes, we know Tennessee football has sucked the last few years, yet we had to hit rock bottom for u to finally beat us. A game we still should've won. Besides we beat you in our worst year in Tennessee football this past season anyway. No one cares about your one win against us in football in the past 27 years. Yeah, we might not be the best basketball program around...but you ain't got crap on our football programs tradition and history. I'd rather be a top program in football than in basketball anyway. And we have tradition and history in more than just one sport. Yeah yeah yeah "no one cares about women's basketball." We had the best coach to ever coach the GAME of basketball here. So honestly, gtfo, Tennessee athletics are just better than Kensucky's. Yeah, you have men's basketball on us, but not today and we have pretty much every other sport on you. Deal with it.

I'm not even sure they'll make the NIT. They've thrown in the towel. No hustle, no energy, they just didnt care to be there from tip-off. If you wondered how Texas A&M would do without Johnny Manziel, you just saw the result in a basketball game. I thought UK would rally from Noel's injury and play balls to the wall, man was I wrong.

Props to UT for playing the best they could possibly play. You could tell they wanted this game BAD. I didnt understand why Martin still had the starters in when you're up 30 with 3 mins to go, its a little dirty but so be it.

aaahh dog your hilarious. a little on the dumb side if you think cal doesn't or won't run up the score if he gets the chance. maybe you need to go back and watch the game again without those blue tinted glasses and get a real perspective on how bad uk really is and how terrible a coach that cal really is.

Yeah, I think UK basketball fans look at UT basketball like UT fans look at UK football....like a joke.

And its record is similar.....UK has to hit rock bottom in basketball for UT to beat them once in a 2 game series.

And if you want to compare the preferred sports success in each program, UK has more titles in basketball and the titles are much more current, UK has had more success. I dont know exactly how many titles UT claims, I think a few are from the 30's? Not sure....but I've seen them win one in my lifetime, and it wasnt even in this century. UK is considered one of the top 3 (if not the best) basketball programs of all time. UK vs UT in its preferred sport is a little different.

Dont be so bitter. Congrats on the big win today. UT played balls to the wall. Enjoy it!

Nice of you to totally ignore my point.

You say we're a joke in basketball but we've accomplished way more in our "other sport" than you guys will ever hope to sniff in football. Your pinnacle is the freakin' Music City Bowl.

Our men's team was about 30 seconds from a Final Four and we've won the SEC Championship about 3 times since 2000. Your football team hasn't even gotten close to even winning their division.

So if we're comparing jokes, your football program is leaps and bounds a much bigger joke.

A rival game? Thats funny. I think thats a little one sided. UT hates UK a LOTTTT more than the other way around. I can think of 20 teams I'd rather beat than UT. In fact, I dont even dislike UT. The fact that this board has a dozen UK fans should tell you something.

UK's basketball rivals are Louisville, Indiana, Duke, UNC and Kansas. Football, yes. Basketball, No. I dont want to compare records, titles and streaks to prove my point. Just relax and enjoy the day :)

So Louisville is a rival, UK leads the series 30-15 looks one sided to me. :ermm:

What team has the most wins against UK? ( I always forget)

For you to say, no UK fan cares if UK loses to UT is just wrong. That was not the case when I lived in Louisville, heck it was always their comeback when they lost in football. I also find it funny that so many fans travel for both teams for basketball if this is a meaningless game.

25K would be cheap given Poythress' high school record. As of this date, however, somebody wants his money back.

I know VolNation has lost its credibility from the Gruden fiasco, but a good friend of mine was with Alex Poythress Northeast coach who said he got a call from Coach Calapari saying if Poythress went to Kentucky he would leave $25,000 in his mailbox. this is the last i ever heard of it, but other people that i know involved with both Poythress and NE bball have said the same thing, and he did end up at UK....

im from clarksville BTW before you question why i would ever be around them

UK finds UT a rivalry in football because UT has accomplished something. UT hasnt accomplished anything basketball wise for UK to consider them a big game in the schedule. I'll take a sweep from UT every year for a win over Louisville.

Elite eight, sweet 16, 6 straight ncaa apps in recent years is nothing?

I think you need to re-read what I said. I wasnt comparing who's "other" sport was better. I was comparing whos MAIN sport was more dominant. I dont care about womens field hockey, cheerleading, baseball or womens basketball....I care about basketball. And since you missed my point I state in again....UK is more dominant in basketball than UT is in football. More titles, more history and more dominant. Actually, its not even close.

I'll bet it wouldn't take more than a year if UT Butt raped KY twice in a year for that win a UL to become less relevant. Living on the Kentucky border, all i can say is that it sure shut the Wildpusses up for now.

I cant believe it, another one who thinks UT is even close to the rival that Louisville is. :eek:lol:

UL has eliminated UK from the tourny. UL has been to numerous final fours and has even won national titles. UL has ruined our season in the past. UL is considered a top 10 basketball program, they've accomplished a lot. UT has been to an elite 8.

Traveling to games? Pay attention....UK travels to all the away games. TBA is nothing special. When UK played USC last year the majority of the arena was UK. When UT comes to Rupp its no big deal, I dont even go to the games because its just a average atmosphere. But when UL, UNC, Kansas, Indiana or Fla come to town the place is packed and rockin.

As for who has most wins against UK? Its UT, the same program that UK has the most wins against in the country. The series is 149-66. And it looks like UT had a few 5 game winning streaks against UK in 1917 and 1919, thats exciting.

Oh my gosh!! This is amazing because I have a friend that has a cousin thats close to the refs and he said Cal gives them 10 thousand a game. Holy moly we've just stumbled across something....call the papers. You first!

Duke fans laugh at you for considering them your rival. They LAUGH at you. You don't even play Duke, except for specially-scheduled games like this year. That was 21 years ago. Get over it. 1998 was supposed to be your revenge, and you guys still belly-ache over '92.

Leave it to KY to name off a bunch of teams that aren't even on the schedule as their biggest rivals. Go ahead and name your 20. I bet the Gators are the only SEC team who might be lucky enough to find themselves on your cherished list of programs.

This is why we hate KY. If you don't consider anyone in the SEC to be a rival, then get your butt out of our conference and join a league that your rivals are playing in. Wouldn't you rather be in the ACC? Then, you could play teams that are on your list of rivals every year.

If you would trade two conference losses for a December non-conference win every year, you are clueless about what's best for your program.

Its a different team. They're down and out with Noel's injury. Billy Gillispies team would have beat them today, and I'm not exaggerating. On the positive side, this UT win will definitely buy Martin another season.

Maymon would have helped UT a lot on Saturday, but why mention him?

Vandy/UT is a rivalry because its in state. Just like UK/UL is. If Vandy was in Florida you guys wouldnt care. I find it amazing you dont understand that.

UK's main rivals are Louisville, Indiana UNC, Duke, Kansas and Florida. All of those teams have accomplished major things or eliminated UK in a tourny. When has UT eliminated UK, accomplished anything or even ruined UK's title hopes? I honestly dont even recall a loss to UT that was really painful. I dont like losing today, but its not like UT stole UK's title hopes.

You don't even play four of the six schools you named. It really sounds like the ACC would be better for you. You would play UofL, Duke, and UNC every year in conference play, some of them twice a year.

Because UK already played Florida this week and UL, Duke, Indiana, Kansas and UNC are not in the SEC. Strangely ESPN advertises rivalry week and they didnt even cover it!

Yeah, it had nothing to do with the game getting picked up by CBS. It's not like CBS chooses before ESPN. Oh wait...

I have been to plenty of games at Rupp - at least one involving every team on his list. The bolded part is either ignorance or a lie. If UT is in a down year, then sure, they're not going to be as excited as they are when a highly ranked team is in town. But, when UT is good, it's a loud, energetic atmosphere.

I dont know if I should talk about probation or arrests! You're too funny.

No offense, but my favorite sports quote of all time is Pearl saying "We've still got weapons"....I lost it. I love Pearl, though. Wish he'd start coaching again.

Tell me the SEC basketball school who has been put on probation and sanctioned by the NCAA more than any other SEC program? Thanks.

Now enjoy that ass whippin'.

It's obvious why the average KY basketball fan has such a low IQ. It's because the ego is taking up too much space in the head.
