That Tennessee is even close to getting a bid, like most on here keep harping about. That said, it's a miracle that Cuonzo Martin even has this team competing for bubble consideration. Martin's resume shows that his teams usually improve tremendously from year one to year two. I think he's ahead of that trend.

Joe Lunardi would like a word...

lol. I took a shower, switched it to ESPN and honestly thought something was wrong with my tv. Duke was in the middle of a 7-0 run and was down by 20???? Wow man.

Not really. Lunardi doesn't have Tennessee anywhere close to the cut line. However, that's not the point. The point is that Cuonzo Martin inherited a team full of backups and turmoil, and has somehow managed to even make it into the discussion.

North Carolina is just a better team. They should have won the first game if they would have just kept pounding the post. Teams that live and die by the three generally don't do well in March. I'm afraid the same will be said for Duke.

We are in the first eight out territory. He has said that with two SEC tourney wins, he really likes our chances.

All this tonight.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Discussion, hell. It's the talk of the nation. Watch it go all "Charlie Sheen" if the Cats TCB and we get a two seed in a major conference behind the top team in the country. That's before the tourney starts. Watch and see how many times you hear this during the upcoming week from every sports desk in the country. People find this team irresistable. Fact.

I just can't see a team with an RPI in the 70's getting in. Tennessee is one of the best 37 teams right now, but they really don't have anything that stands out on their resume.

The fact since conference play they've been one of the better teams? SOS? RPI against top 50 will look much better with two SEC tourney wins against Miss State and Florida.

That's certainly possible, and it will help the resume. But, everyone was also pumping Alabama in 2011 and Mississippi State in 2010, too.

4 wins against top 50 rpi and 30's sos. If we win a couple of games in the SECT our rpi should be low 60s.

Maybe R. Kelley can inspire you

Anybody between the ages of 18-25 that says they haven't gone out and pretend to dunk while singing that song is lying.

Duke isn't really that good unless they're scorching the nets. The surprise isn't that UNC pounded them tonight, it's that they managed to win the first game in Chapel Hill. Not that I minded. Having lived in this state for 25 years, I can tell you that UNC fans are insufferable bandwagoners. I think I'd root for Iran against them.

Heck, we were a few shots from beating Duke with the same team that got Peayed on a couple of weeks later.

this is exactly what is stupid. You are saying that in order to get in, we need 2 tourney wins against Miss St. and UF. You say it as if it is a given we will beat these two teams. The fact of the matter is that this team still has some work to do if the want to make the field.

I don't think anybody is saying that at all.

But we are playing pretty damn well, and it's okay to have confidence in this team.

the OP said he doesn't think we are anywhere close to getting an invite to the big dance. I'd say that if we need 2 more quality wins, that would be considered pretty far from receiving a bid.

That said, I would love nothing more than to beat the **** out of everyone we played. I just think people are gonna get let down if they keep focusing on the tournament, and there is not a damn thing to feel let down about in regards to this team. They have lived up to every possible expectation that anyone could have had for them.
