Bob Stoops 143-35 record. Still coaching

Gruden 0-0 in college. Has never coached in college. Out of coaching for 5 yrs. Hasnt interacted with college kids in 21 yrs.

Yes, he is BTG

Yeah, it's totally obvious to anyone with a brain that a Super Bowl winning coach can't win in college.

I don't get the infatuation with Gruden personally. Yes, he won a SB--with Dungy's players. He was barely a .500 coach at Tampa. Discounting the SB with Dungy's players, he was actually below .500. Stoops would definitely be better, but isn't a realistic option.

Is this post serious? With Dungy's players? Really?

Gruden had a sub .500 record after that Super Bowl team Dungy left him with, and never made it past the wildcard playoff games after that. Not exactly a good sign of someone who is a good NFL coach.

Kiffin was worse and he's really stinking it up out west.

Yet Kiffin helped build up the very team he is coaching, more than a few years before. Kiffin is a college coach, just like Spurrier and Saban are. No proof, other than possible namesake that Gruden would succeed. Watching film at 3:30am, doesn't equate to being able to the do the job that needs to be done here.

The validity of Gruden coming to be our head coach remains to be seen, but questioning whether he would succeed here is quite ridiculous IMO. A Gruden hire would have the same effect as Saban did for Alabama.

Which us why every QB wants his advice coming out if college. He would kill it and to think otherwise is naive.

Gruden last coached in college 21 years ago. Saban won a NC, before failing as a NFL HC. That comparison is not the same. Plus, the last time Gruden won a playoff game in the NFL, was that Super Bowl.

Seeking advice, and wanting to play for a guy, are two totally different things. I can tolerate someone for a day or two in seeking to get better.

But his ability to coach has not diminished and I feel confident that top recruits would flock at the chance to play for him. That is where the comparison is similar.
