I will give Martin this "we are in much better shape going into SEC play"

The talent on this team is insane. We shouldn't even be wondering if we will make the tournament. It's terrible. I'd name my first born Jimmy Cheek to have bruce back.

You're really going to say that when Martin has these guys up 14 at the break? Sheesh, he's gone. Done with for the Orange.

Just stop it. BIGGEST MARTIN CRITIC BUT YOU HAVE NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT RIGHT NOW. THEY ARE DOING EVERYTHING THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING

I hate that I seemed to miss your first 83 posts. #84 here was gold.

I don't think we should be wondering anymore. I think this team makes it in with a 5-6 seed. That's all you can realistically ask out of UT BB. You can wonder abiut Martin all you want but he is getting the job done this season

We definitely appear to be coming together at the right time, anxious to see us at Kentucky.

Not wanting to out the cart before the horse, I want to see us wax Auburn and aTm at home like we should, then go take care of business @coRUPPt arena.

If this Tennessee basketball team has taught me anything, it's that there are no gimmes. One game at a time for this bunch.

No doubt, losing one of those 2 erases the benefits of the win last night.

Huge win. Not sold on Martin (not being a debbie downer) but I still don't think he's the answer until we win consistently. I can't wait to see how these next few games play out. LSU is a tough road game and one I didn't think we had a shot of winning.

Winning a tough road game was a big step for this team, winning every game against inferior competition is another step.

Baby steps.
Last night boosted my confidence level though.
Martin scheming correctly and players performing.
Balanced offense and intense defense.
Good recipe for success. Keep it goin.

All I asked from Martin was to utilize the high low constantly and that's basically where it starts. The ball in Maymon and Stokes hands at the high post turns out great more times than not. You can't double team them there because it leaves McRae, Richardson or Barton open who have proved to be capable to knock down shots. Stokes can take his man one on one and get fouled or finish. Maymon is a great passer out of that spot. High low will continue to work.

This. I'm not worried about the next two in terms of whether I think we can beat them. I'm worried about whether or not the team that lost to UTEP and NCSU makes an appearance again.

Exactly the formula to dominate FLA again this season.

No doubt.

These last 4 games are his best 4 games as the Tennessee coach IMO. Weak opponents we are taking care of early, and putting the game away. We have been starting great, and that was often a trend under Martin was starting games really slow and having to come from behind.

Getting very optimistic, take care of these next 2 and I think we go to Rupp and give those diaper dandies all they want.

We also don't seem to be overplaying or trying to get in a guy's face 30 feet out while leaving an easy lane to the bucket. Sometimes you can play too hard on D in the wrong spots and give up easy lanes which in turn get easy buckets, easy 3's, foul trouble and/or kill momentum. Nothing wrong with backing off a player and making him pull up, assuming he isn't a player who pulls up a lot and hits.

UTEP was one of the few games that I have seen from beginning to end. I have only been able to catch parts of others. I am going to chalk that one up to a team shooting out of their minds. The offense was disappointing because we didn't adjust to the junk defenses. But, if we play better defense, we still win. However, I have said that it wasn't that bad because it gave us the opportunity to beat two solid teams. I am not sure we would have beaten Iowa or Kansas.

I missed NC State so I have no idea what happened. But clearly, they are better than we thought.

This was my criticism of Josh some last year. He plays on guys 30 feet out, and there is no need to do it. Also, if you do your homework on shooting percentages, you know who to play deep.
