Idaho, Moscow murders

. It sounds like a lot of women shot him down.. probably because he was going about it all wrong, but plenty of men get rejected and don’t go around stabbing people

On the whole, I agree with you. Just the same, it isn't always being shot down, it's how it's done. In other words, to what degree was malice employed in doing so. The sad fact is, like almost anything except maybe Tardigrada, can be broken, That includes people. I've long believed that the majority of religions know this and thus why they advocate kindness, and empathy. But we also have an innate awareness of right and wrong. We are responsible for which we choose to follow.

. True, but women are mean and always have been, and I am one ( a woman, not mean lol) we are even more mean to one another, and that’s a fact.. Not condoning it, just what it is.. people can snap or ‘psychotic break’ from really random things (I was a behavioral nurse for a long time)…I’m thinking undiagnosed schizophrenia/ schizotypal

I think that’s the impression the article I posted was trying to give. I read another article last night that interviewed people from a bar he would frequent, and they said that after a couple drinks his real character showed. They said he was labeled in the computers there as “creepy guy” or something similar, and he quit going when a manager approached him one day and asked if there were going to be any more incidents. It sounds like lots of people knew he was off.

Sounds that way.. (‘he was thrown off’ as my MIL likes to say)

The Moscow police have stated that the investigation is not over. The suspect’s father apparently drove across country to help him get back home. I wonder if his father is suspected in helping him get rid of evidence. The police saying that it’s a complex case and still ongoing is very interesting.

Exactly. I’m sure he was going about it all wrong. Sounds like he went about everything the wrong way. What was his pickup line? Want to participate in a survey?

Could also explain the killer asking if anybody else has been arrested.

Looks like they tracked him with the white Elantra, maybe found DNA in the car matching the murder site, his or the victims or both. Now they bring him back and build a full case against him.

Here's what I dont understand, the suspect's family knew he was 10 miles from the scene of the crime and obviously knew he drives a white Elantra. No clue how many white Elantras are in that area, but surely they at least mentioned it to him that he needs to clear his name. Did that have anything to do with him asking if anyone else was arrested. Was he referring to a family member perhaps? Is that why his dad made that trek across country with him.

Unless his family is completely cut off from the world there’s zero chance they didn’t bring it up.

CNN reported they found him through genetic DNA from his left at the crime scene. They narrowed his identity and confirmed he had a car that matched the description of one at the scene. They just had to wait for all the warrants before his arrest, so they tracked him for several days.

I don’t know if it’s legit or not, but somebody posted a tiktok of his Instagram handle where he had zero posts, but followed some of the victims . That may be what they’re referring to. Creepy as hell.
It was reported one of the girls had a stalker. Could have been him.

That would make more sense. I guess some people share their real time location too?

That sounds more realistic but I don't know how it would be possible to match his DNA then find the car. Match his DNA with what? I am sure they found his DNA at the crime scene but they need to match with something. The odds of his DNA being on file anywhere are very low. Even if he did one of those ancestry tests it would take forever to computer match it. If they narrowed his identity and then found the type car he drives why publish the photo and tip him off?

Genealogical genetics. That's nuts. Cant wait to hear the methodology. Hope they pin it. Hope they can solve other murders too.

How would one go about clearing their name? Wouldn't it be a nuisance to the local police if everyone in the community with a white Elantra were to contact them?

I would think that would make it easier for LE. If I live in that area and they are telling people to be on the lookout for a white Elantra and that is what I drive then you best bet I'm getting going to be doing something. If not every time you turn around you are going to be harassed.

They can't search the car without a warrant. They can't get a warrant without probable cause. They didn't impound his car until after his arrest.

Not many facts are being released yet, but CNN said they found him through genetic DNA. It was already stated his DNA was all over the crime scene. So, if they were able to match his to DNA from a relative in one of the ancestry databases, they could narrow down potential suspects. Then, they identify a relative who matches the profile, had means (was near the murder scene), and conclude he also has the kind of car placed at the scene. Then they track him to get his actual DNA to confirm a match. It's plausible.

Yes, plausible, I think if they identified the car as the one at the crime scene they could get a warrant once they found it. I have been telling people those ancestry sites reports their data to the main database. I think we are still missing a big puzzle piece. They could have found his car, got a warrant and searched it finding matching DNA then arrested him and impounded his car.

If they had gotten a warrant for his car, it wouldn't have been returned to him. They would have combed through every inch of it. Genetic DNA implies they matched him to a family member through a database. You're right, we don't know all the details. More will be released when he's back in Idaho and they're able to formally serve him with the probable cause affidavit, which will then be made public.
