If Holly Warlick is the coach-in-waiting

If this program is to be revived, if Pat does retire, her successor has to be a person with Tennessee history, and a dynamic personality to get the top prospects back to UT. Of course, Caldwell has all this and would make a great face for the program.... Holly, although a nice lady, is not getting it done.

Kaela Davis has reopened her recruiting, she was the one who said she would be honored to play for Pat, if she was on the bench or not!

Im kind of surprised Mickie DeMoss's name hasn't been mentioned already. She is really the one who kick started things at KY for Matt Mitchell. I guess most want a younger coach though.

Has to be a successor with a TN history? Why limit yourself when you're looking for the best possible candidate?

Saban wasn't a disciple of The Bear but (nearly) every bammer has gotten over that sticky detail.

Pat's successor has a better chance selling Lady Vol Basketball, if she played under Pat...Big shoes to fill.. It would be nice if she walked the walk with Pat as a player.

As far as Saban goes, he had a NC at LSU and NFL connections...He may be great in a living room as well.

Sitting up behind the bench and watching the body language of the coaches, it appears that Holly is running the team. It also appears that Mickey is shut out of the game. That is not a happy coaching bench and it is carrying over to the players. It was disappointing to see one SC player kill us from the same place on the floor with threes. When our point guard had problems with the pressure, we never sent in an experienced point guard to give her a break. In summary, something has to change in how this team is being handled. Also, I think we need to look at a coaching change as an opportunity to find the best possible coach for the program. Trying to keep it in the family is often not the best approch.

Holly will run the program into the ground! This team has no heart, and is very overhyped. I don't see them making it to the elite eight this year! IMO you pay the best that money can offer to get back to winning championships!

Highly unlikely a winning coach would leave their program to try and follow up on Pats legacy....Pat's coaching tree is enormous...If she bleeds orange, great. If she can point to one of the banners at Thompson, and tell a recruit she helped bring it here, all the better.

I believee Holly deserves the job but she seems uncomfrtable in the limelight at times. And Lady Vols had #2 class next year but kids are decommiting i'm told if this is true kids must question something

No one has decommitted. Kaela Davis, has opened up her recruting, but she is still committed to TN. At least for the time being. I believe she is a 2013 commit. She probably wants to make sure of the coaching situation. If she's not going to be playing for Pat, I'm sure she wants to know who it is that she will be playing for before she makes a firm commitment. I don't blame the girl. I want her here, but only if this is where she wants to be. Same goes for all our recruits.

Idiocy. Lady Vol Basketball is already sold. And no former player of Pat's has sniffed a F4 as a head coach - much less won a NC.

And you make the point re: Saban. Saban was hired by bama because he already had a NC at LSU. And yes, he can recruit with the best of them. Seems to me those are the kind of traits the top program in women's bb would like to have for their next head coach of the program.

More idiocy. A winning coach wouldn't take the UT job?
A program that can pay it's HC 7 figures...that leads the nation in attendance...that has titles and All-Americans that are unmatched? THE top program in the country?

Here. Let me help.

Hire the best freaking coach whose name is not Gino. Okay?

That was not my first guess. I wonder what she would do if UT called?

I will be the first to admit that I care very little about Lady Vol basketball. That said, I don't think she would be on the front page of potential candidates.

I was trying to find former players at Tennessee who has final 4 coaching experience and there are none, except the present staff. I don't think the program will look in this direction as a choice. I do believe we will look for a coach that is proven with the ability to keep the program at its present level.

I like Nikki but wouldn't hate giving Dean lockwood the reigns either. He is a personable figure.

He's got no head coaching experience--and while he may be a good guy, he's not shown --at all---that he can develop bigs offensively. The Vols need to go out and find the best coach in America and recruit him/her--someone who is bright and got some charisma, has experience running a good program, and is more young than old. Those would be my criteria. And I would not care if they have UT ties or not. This is a big-time program, and it needs an ABSOLUTE A-level coach. You don't hire a b-level coach, or c+ coach, just because they have Vol ties.

I could possibly see us going after Matthew Mitchell. He's got ties to the program, and has turned the UK women's program around.

Couldn't have said it better myself. (Lord knows I've tried.)

Just personal opinion, but I really believe that with our talent we are F4 within 2 years with either Mitchell or Caldwell and a new dynasty begins.:peace2:
