If Strong says no we have to hire Petrino

We had a coach who exhibited morals and preached VFL rhetoric during the 3 years that he pushed us further into the abyss of irrelevance. I'll take a morally bankrupt Petrino and Tennessee's return to football prominence he would bring.

I absolutely think that Davis, Tressel or Petrino are home run hires. All 3 of those names trumph Gundy, Strong or Fisher. They are all proven winners with big brand names! HART..WE ALL SEE IT....DO YOU????!!!

Passing on Petrino in my IMO is a mistake but what do I know. He has no NCAA violations, like others have said work the contract in TN favor, and he would have TN winning in no time. A job hopper maybe but he prob would have been at arky for a while. Who cares if it looks desperate after the wins start coming in the same people that was laughing will change their tune to something like its great they gave him a chance etc and all that bs.

I'm not sure what I think about Strong, except I'm baffled as to why he'd want to stay at Louisville. Even with the move to the ACC, it's not an easy place to compete for a national title at.

Strong had a great track record as a DC. But as a head coach, he's really only been OK --- not spectacular. Kragthorpe did a poor job at UL and Strong rebounded quickly, but two 7-6 seasons aren't overwhelming evidence for that.

This year, he's 10-2, but Louisville is probably the least impressive 10-2 team in the entire nation. They've won 5 games by less than 6 points, and they've faced not a single ranked team all season. Best wins were at Rutgers (20-17) and vs Cincinnati (in overtime). At least this might suggest he's a good game coach, but still difficult to get too excited about it.

What parent in their right mind would want their kid enrolled here if we hired petrino? That would make us look worse than we already do. About 2 games into the season some attention seeking chik in staffing would make a public accusation of sexual harassment that would air on every network. Petrino would be suspended. UT would have to settle out of court with her. More sanctions would come. More recruiting prospects would change their minds about coming here........shall I continue with this horror story?

When has a morally bankrupt person brought anything to prominence? Other than antibiotics sales?

NO. Absolutely positively NO. You don't have to hire Petrino, Tressel, or any other weasel that will screw up an already difficult situation worse than it is. If Hart tries either then he should be fired before the contract is signed.

It would be FAR more preferrable to go with another no name than to hire either one of these guys. At least there's a chance the no name will leave the program better than he found it in 3 years.... and neither Petrino or Tressel would be in the job any longer than that.

Yeah like Dooley did. There are some real dumbazzes on here. The very best move UT could possible make is to hire Patrino if they want to win. He could bring them back to the top of the SEzc faster than anyone except maybe Gruden. 76-24 SEC record. Go get him. And Yes he would come!

to hire Bobby Petrino. Give him and other teams a huge clause for leaving before his contract is up, sign him to 5 to 6 years anywhere between 2 and 3 million, and let him do his thing. He has run clean programs in the past and is a proven winner. Plus, he's got head coaching experience in the SEC and has the hunger to get back into it. It would also help keep Bray, Patterson, and likely Hunter around as well as prepare the other WR's and bring in more talent. Hart, GET ER DONE!

You can hire Petrino and play for an SEC Title by 2016 or you can hire whoever is left and stay behind Florida & Georgia for the next 5-10 years. You're call UT.

This makes the most sense. He's the only viable candidate left and he can have us winning quickly. He won't cost us a lot of money. Plus we can put in a clause in his contract to keep his behavior in check, which realistically shouldn't be an issue because this is his last chance anyways.

This makes a lot of sense! Send this idea to Hart!!

Please volnation get off of your high horse. Petrino could be paid half what we paid Dooley(with no buy out) and we know he can win. Surround him with a top shelf support staff and we would be consistent top 25 performers. If you really think he would make more of a mockery of Tennessee than Hart already has then you are fooling yourself. In three years when we would be playing for a BCS bowl I'd love for you to tell me why it was a bad hire. Wake up and realize we are in no position to negotiate with top tier coaches unless we dump an absurb amount of money on their lap, then again even Strong still said no to money.

The best thing about Petrino is now gone. Because of his, ahem, history, the guy had absolutely no negotiating leverage at all. None. We could have said "We'll give you fifty bucks and a Doritos Locos taco once a week," and he'd have jumped on it.
But if we offer him now he knows we're getting desperate, and the space behind him has to look like a deep dark hole with Charlie Weis and Sylvester Croom at the bottom. So if we offer him now, we're going to pay him significantly more than if we'd offered him a week ago.

This is fun.

We could still only offer him a weekly serving of UT Hostesses' ho-ho's and an open account at Harley Davidson of Knoxville with a weekly motorcycle driving instruction class. It is that easy.

How can you possibly make the argument that Jones, Tuberville, Fedora, Golden, Pelini are better hires than this guy?

Ohio St went undefeated this year! How much better can you leave a program?
