If we go 4 - 8 do we fire Butch? (merged)

Fantasy.

People forget when Hambone pulled the trigger, Fulmer already had lined up a Top-10 class that met needs at the time and had a better collegiate QB than Bray.

Kiffin destroyed that class and the roster in his Sherman-esque "March through Knoxville".

Both you and sjt have second careers waiting if you apply your talents and make the right contacts, if you truly believe your last couple of posts.

(Why is there still a VN contingent that grossly underestimates the damage Kiffin did on the Hill?)
I agree. Kiffin turned out to be the worst hire in the SEC in the last 30 years.

Fulmers class would of busted anyways because he recruited thugs later on like Kiffin. We had to fire him, but we botched the hiring after terribly. If we hired Brian Kelly, post 01 Failmer would be an after thought in modern 2013.

There's too many variables for us to truly know about the future after 09 back then, but we would of been 4-8 under Fulmer in 09.
I do agree that Kiffin turned out to be a terrible hire also.

Fulmer left the program in an awful state. If you don't see that, I see there is no need to continue this discussion.

No!...there's a need!...think about your audience!

Tennessee has never lost 8 games in a season. Some think this is not outside the realm of possibility in Coach Butch Jones's first year at the helm.

Do we fire Butch if he loses 8?

My personal feelings are he would have to be eating Dooley Wacky Bambacky to lose 8.

If we do lose 8 next year though, I think it is grounds to fire Hart (might as well include Cheek while we're at it), and the next's guys first job is to line up the next guy. CBJ have to win something special in Y2 to carry-on.

We let Dooley carry-on after the KY loss, and I think we all agree it was a huge, huge mistake.

Stupid post.

This thread is exactly why vol nation is the "Legion of the Miserable". never happy, even though we are 0-0 under the new coach. Some Vol fans say "0-0, UnDEFEATED" and some say "0-0, WINLESS".

ha ha. laughs and laughs all around

4-8? 5-7 IMO. No wait, 3-9. No, my bad, 4-7-1.... yeah that's it.

who started the job with more talent

fulmer, kiffin, dooley, jones

1) Fulmer
2) Jones
3) Kiffin
4) Dooley

There is a much larger gap between #1 and the remaining three, than there is between #2, 3, & 4. Neither Jones, Kiffin, or Dooley started with much.

Actually, Kiffin started with six guys who got drafted including two first rounders. A couple of others made rosters. He ran off one QB still on an NFL roster, and I think a couple of other guys floating around the NFL. He also had some All-SEC performers who did not make it to the League.

In fact, it is arguable that Kiffin inherited more talent than Fulmer.

Having said that, Fulmer was primarily responsible for bringing the talent he "inherited" to Knoxville.

You mean Lane Kiffin only had Eric Berry. Dan Williams was a fat slob at this point, and Crompton was extremely awful. All those players that got drafted I don't remember even being considered draftable players before Kiffy. Kiffin made the careers of Crompton, Williams, and a few others. BJ was a 7th rounder, and Crompton was a fifth rounder. Dooley was the worst hire.

You just hate Kiffin, but he did do the needed. He got rid of Fulmers skid marks of a piss poor coaching job.

Last night I was. You're treating kiffin like he did nothing for our players in 2009. The other 5 guys besides Berry had almost no shot of being drafted. Both lines were fat, slow, with no depth. Crompton was a complete disaster. Hardesty had the injury bug. Moore and Stocker weren't too good yet. Do you not remember?

Without Kiffin there would of been No James, Fulton, Hunter, D. Rogers, AJ Johnson, and others.

Idk if he is serious or just f$&king with people...

He is either Trolling, retarded or is like 20 and doesn't remember the Fulmer years before 08.

All I remember is the massive decline, 2 losing seasons, and getting his ass whipped by Florida almost every year. The past is over. I mean he only won the SEC twice when it was down? If Phil was so great, why did he never dominate?

congrats to evh/utg for starting a Fulmer thread that few saw coming. Even when you admitted it was a troll job most ignored it. Thankfully the Fulmerites are a dying breed

Oh no....we are still here in force, and will continue to guard the hill until we have a good coach!

We will find out what Butch is made of this year. But until then we will be on the Hill, like a lighthouse helping lost souls come to shore. :)

no way we could fight thru all 4 of you. One day you'll step back, evaluate the data and realize how ridiculous your stance actually is. Until then, keep rationalizing the loss to Wyoming
