To all of the pissers and moaners on here. If you see a Notre Dame fan, and a legit one, not a bandwagon, do me a favor. Ask them how they felt when they hired the Head Coach at Cincinnati, and how it's working out for them.

I've seen nothing but positive things from this hire so far. Coach Jones is confident, but not arrogant. He is proven, he has won the conference(s) he has coached in. No, he hasn't won the SEC, he hasn't coached in it.

"Fast and furious offense" - you gotta love that.
"we're gonna take the ball away" - you gotta love that
His teams have always been 1st or 2nd in special teams in the league - if you don't love that, there is no help for you.

How about instead of bashing a coach that truly wants to be our coach and wants to be here, why don't you bash the ones who REJECTED this university we love.

To all of the Grudenites : YOU'RE HERO SAID NO. LET HIM GO!!!!! Let's support BUTCH.

Also, if Tennessee played Notre Dame's schedule, Dooley would still be the coach and everyone would be happy.

Notre Dame is not Tennessee and we didn't get Brian Kelly.

Notre Dame has always run a close 2nd to the Vols for me. Must be my Catholic upbringing..But the above quote says it all.. I am really hoping that CBJ turns out to be a great HC..Just not excited about him at this point.

We played 4 of the top 10 teams in the country including the national champion. They played some ACC and a couple of little 10 teams that got it handed to them by SEC teams this year. They really stepped up this year and played a couple of PAC 1 teams. Like I said, if we played that schedule, Butch Jones wouldn't even be a thought.

I don't give a crap about Butch Jones. My point is he is not the right hire for Tennessee at this time. Like I have said, we needed a PROVEN winner now...not some coach trying to PROVE himself. I know that every coach needs to prove themselves at some point, but our program and fanbase does not have the luxury of waiting for that at this time. Did you see the attendance this year (exception was the Fla game)?

They play Stanford and USC every year along with Michigan and Michigan St. They played Oklahoma this year too.

Which proven coach were you wanting? Who did we pass over that was going to leave their job?

Genius, so as opposed to losing to Bama, Georgia, and Vandy we'd be losing to USC, Oklahoma, and BYU. Dooley would not be coach here---are you like his golfing buddy? I've seen many negative responses you've made---dude you need to get over it. I just want to know what you are going to do with yourself if Jones does a better job than Dooley and we start winning? I bet you'll be beside yourself!

50-27. 4 Conference championships in 6 years. Not proof enough?

So if 50-27 and 4 conference championships in 6 years isn't proven winner to you, what is? 77-0 and 10 conference championships in 6 years? The argument you're trying to make is nonsense. He IS a proven winner. I'm tired of all this "rah rah SEC are teh b3st!" bull****. The SEC is having a great run, but that doesn't mean every other team and coach sucks. I honestly hope Notre Dame beats the living **** out of Alabama to shut everyone like you up.

Cowher is not going to coach college football and probably not in the NFL either.

Kevin Sumlin has a top 10 recruiting class and tons of players coming back along with the Heisman trophy winner plus A&M would pay him whatever we are going to pay him.

There is a reason no one is interviewing Petrino. He broke Arkansas state laws when he hired his mistress. Plus he lied to his AD and has screwed over multiple programs. Arkansas St may even pass over him.

Why is Kevin Sumlin better than Butch Jones? He rode Art Briles coat tails at Houston and won this year with Mike Sherman's players. (Manziel was a RS so he signed with Sherman.) Butch Jones was more successful at both his stops than Sumlin at Houston and in a tougher conference.

If there was a coach that was 77-0 with 10 conference championships, he wouldn't be good enough, he's not Chuckey. And I'm glad you pointed out another thing. Im a Tennessee fan not an SEC fan. I sure as hell would rather eat turnips for year than to have to hear that Roll Tide bu88sh87 for another year. I dont care if the SEC ever wins another NC if it's not Tennessee. GO IRISH

1.) Cowher
2.) Sumlin
3.) Petrino

1.) Hah, give me a break. We had less of a chance with him than with Gruden.
2.) Why would he leave A&M? We have no competitive advantages over them and won't be able to outpay them until we build our reserves back up. Not to mention that the next two or three years are going to be cake for him with Johnny Football at the helm.
3.) He's not worth the baggage he comes with.
