I have told you who we should have hired...my list (after Gruden said no)
Cowher
Sumlin
Petrino

Cowher is not coaching college football. crazy Sumlin you think he is going to leave Texas A/M. No Petrino nobody is going after him. What does that tell you? He probaly end up a some small colleger coaching again. But when you lie to your AD it is going to be hard for him to find a big time job.

I don't give a crap about Butch Jones. My point is he is not the right hire for Tennessee at this time. Like I have said, we needed a PROVEN winner now...not some coach trying to PROVE himself. I know that every coach needs to prove themselves at some point, but our program and fanbase does not have the luxury of waiting for that at this time. Did you see the attendance this year (exception was the Fla game)?

Butch Jones has won wherever he's been? You must mean we want a proven winner at a top-20 team? Who? I love the Vols and think Tennessee is an attractive job, but who's out there that meets your credentials and would be interested in moving from where they are at to Tennessee at this point in time? The only person who apparently even thought about it was Strong, and he said no? Strong says 'no' ... who now?

I think we are very lucky to have a proven winner who seems so happy to be here. GBO!

Cowher
Sumlin
Petrino

Cowher - Tn had a better chance getting Gruden
Sumlin -Isn't leaving A&M for Tn
Pretrino- the only thing he is proven at is being a piece of scum.

I believe you meant "your". "You're" means you are. Which in this case doesn't make sense. You are hero said no or your hero said no. You decide.

Ok, you're right because you're means you are. I should have used "your" because that is the correct possessive pronoun. I feel smarter now.

Who was Brian Kelly before he got to ND? The coach at Cincy. Why are you and so many others so down on CBJ? I just don't get.

I think I can try and answer this question. With the way things have played out for us the last 5 years, we couldn't take another "up-n-coming" coach and gamble that it works out. We needed a proven winner, leader and a "wow" factor to get major bigtime recruits here to build up our programs then after 4 or 5 years if that bigtime coach leaves the Vols then we could gamble on a up-n-coming coach as our program would be stablized and have 3 or 4 deep roster at each position.

I think Butch Jones is a winner in smaller conferences but his past recruiting and his name shows me nothing as far as getting the 4 and 5 star recruits in. I think numerous posters on here feel the same.

Again, I'm only trying to answer your question and not start any internet fights today!

All could win and recruit at Tennessee, which is more than I can say for Butch Jones.

I think you have this SEC arrogance/entitlement going on. You realize the top teams in our conference got "their" coaches from other leagues right? Nick Saban was in the Big 10 (or little as you call it in your misinformed idiocy) Meyer coached at Bowling Green and Utah---what makes us so above them? I'll argue with you all day long man but you are going to have a lot of crow eating if you turn out to be wrong.

Urban Meyer, Les Miles, Nick Saban didn't reall rake in the 4 and 5*s in their previous jobs (Bowling Green and Utah), (Oklahoma State), (Toldeo and Michigan St). Richt didn't have to because he was an OC and Spurrier wasn't an ace recruiter at Duke either.

We played 4 of the top 10 teams in the country including the national champion. They played some ACC and a couple of little 10 teams that got it handed to them by SEC teams this year. They really stepped up this year and played a couple of PAC 1 teams. Like I said, if we played that schedule, Butch Jones wouldn't even be a thought.

The national champions as you name them had the second or third easiest schedule in the sec along with cupcake wins.the luck that all the usual players were not on their game this season just added to their being in the nc game. They should have lost lsu,but lsu gave up the last two minutes. Bamas rise to prominence has more to do with ncaa politics than talent. Last year should not have happened. Hopefully the playoffs next year will put an end to the good ol boy system. I look foreward to a system with a top ten or twelve playoff. The winner of that could truely be named national champs.

Yes your right but all the names mentioned above came in with high calibar staff members. Stoops, Charlie Strong, Chavis, Dan Mullins is just some at the top of my head.

Richt got Rodney Garner which I truly feel was part of Fulmer's demise. Garner was able to get us some bigtime recruits during the 90'.

To all of the pissers and moaners on here. If you see a Notre Dame fan, and a legit one, not a bandwagon, do me a favor. Ask them how they felt when they hired the Head Coach at Cincinnati, and how it's working out for them.

I've seen nothing but positive things from this hire so far. Coach Jones is confident, but not arrogant. He is proven, he has won the conference(s) he has coached in. No, he hasn't won the SEC, he hasn't coached in it.

"Fast and furious offense" - you gotta love that.
"we're gonna take the ball away" - you gotta love that
His teams have always been 1st or 2nd in special teams in the league - if you don't love that, there is no help for you.

How about instead of bashing a coach that truly wants to be our coach and wants to be here, why don't you bash the ones who REJECTED this university we love.

To all of the Grudenites : YOU'RE HERO SAID NO. LET HIM GO!!!!! Let's support BUTCH.

GBO
VFL

Ask them how they feel about their coach killing a guy.
