If you see a Notre Dame fan.....

So if 50-27 and 4 conference championships in 6 years isn't proven winner to you, what is? 77-0 and 10 conference championships in 6 years? The argument you're trying to make is nonsense. He IS a proven winner. I'm tired of all this "rah rah SEC are teh b3st!" bull****. The SEC is having a great run, but that doesn't mean every other team and coach sucks. I honestly hope Notre Dame beats the living **** out of Alabama to shut everyone like you up.

Your Southern Man card has officially just been revoked.

I have told you who we should have hired...my list (after Gruden said no)
Cowher
Sumlin
Petrino
You do realize that these guys have to agree on coming, right? Also, I suppose that you have experience in college football coaching searches? If not, your list means nothing.

I don't give a crap about Butch Jones. My point is he is not the right hire for Tennessee at this time. Like I have said, we needed a PROVEN winner now...not some coach trying to PROVE himself. I know that every coach needs to prove themselves at some point, but our program and fanbase does not have the luxury of waiting for that at this time. Did you see the attendance this year (exception was the Fla game)?

Can't wait to watch you eat crow..."well done" with no condiments. CBJ WILL get it done!

Also, if Tennessee played Notre Dame's schedule, Dooley would still be the coach and everyone would be happy.

I'm sorry. This has probably been dealt with. I just opened the thread and saw. But I HAVE to respond.

This is about the single stupidest thing I have seen posted on here, and I've seen a lot of dumb stuff.

Notre Dame's schedule was the 13th toughest in the country by the official NCAA site, which simply calculates the win % of the teams they play. They played OU on the road and beat them badly (Big 12 champ), they beat Stanford (Pac 12 champ) and they played USCw on the road and beat them handily. They also beat some other ranked teams.

Our record was only the 32nd toughest in the country. Dooley probably would have done worse at Notre Dame.

That nine people liked your incredibly uninformed post just makes me SMH....:banghead2:

Yes your right but all the names mentioned above came in with high calibar staff members. Stoops, Charlie Strong, Chavis, Dan Mullins is just some at the top of my head.

Richt got Rodney Garner which I truly feel was part of Fulmer's demise. Garner was able to get us some bigtime recruits during the 90'.
Chavis didn't come in with Miles and Stoops didn't come in with Spurrier. However, I do agree with Garner leaving for Georgia as the beginning of the end for Coach Fulmer.

I'm sorry, but anyone who had Petrino on their list, I have no respect for their opinion on a head coach. Everywhere Petrino has been, he's made a mess. When he was at Louisville there wasn't a job he wouldn't interview for. He left Atlanta in the middle of the night while the season was still in progress, and Arkansas needs no explanation. Can he coach? Yes. Does Tennessee need another coach creating a dumpster fire? NO!!!

You guys who are Jones bashing simply do not realize - after several rounds of bad picks, UT is simply not the cherry it once was - and there is no way that those who are ALREADY at the very top will come here. If you had made that argument after Fulmer was booted, there would be some sense to it but, while TN has the money and attendance records, it has not been a winning program for some time. No one is going to leave a winning program they built to come to UT to start it from scratch. The best chance we have is to get someone who is a winner on a smaller scale and who is able to translate that into the big time and build a great VOL program. I am hoping thats what Jones will be able to do.
It's actually not been that long at all. It just seems like it.

I am a ND fan second to UT. 17 years ago my first gift from my then girlfriend was a Notre Dame pull over (which I still have).. she is now my wife BTW.

ND made a great hire and I think Tennessee has too.

Coach Butch Jones has won 4 championships in 6 years and has won about 3 out of 4 games played on average.

This man will win, recruit, and bring glory back to UT.

Those of you who can't see that are simply blind to the FACTS.

Winning is winning, winners tend to do that no matter what the conference.

Yes i use to drink the "well its not the SEC kool-aid" and I think that is just not true. A&M proved they can compete. While it is the toughest conference, the SEC is the place to be if you are a winner.

CBJ has an opportunity to prove that. I will support him until he proves otherwise.

Go Big Orange.

Not trying to bash or anything but most teams could compete if you put Johnny Football at the helm

ND didnt play any cupcakes like we did to get a few wins. How many ranked teams did we beat?

Had you left the Dooman at UT til he left on social security, we would have never cracked the top 10. Dooley was a trainwreck that anyone could see coming. I will never understand how Hamilton thought that a man who couldnt win at La Tech ( they've done well since he left) was going to outsmart Saban, SOS, Les Miles , etc.

I love how things work around here. Brian Kelly wins in the Big East and its.........uh...uh...but the big east was good back then. This place never ceases to amaze me.

This times a million million bajillion. The 'Big East was stronger then' argument is totally and utterly laughable. If that were the case then Brian Kelly's very own Bearcats (granted, he didn't coach the game) wouldn't have been completely shown up by Tebow's gators. The game was no contest, and that was the Cincinnati that nearly made the NC and was the class of the Big East. So please. Get out with that garbage.
The 'ranked opponents' argument isn't valid either. He rarely played anyone ranked, so it's difficult to judge from that.

Cowher

Petrino

Cowher/ never going to come, does not want to coach
Sumlin/ leave TAM after one year? Why, he won there and has a returning hypseman trophy winning
Petrino/ well, that tells me a lot about your charecter. Just win, don't give a crap about the integrity of the guy leading the team.
So, now that your list was crap/pipedream, get on the Butchwagon...

So, since Butch Jones was HC at Cincinnati and Brian Kelly was HC at Cincinnati, obviously Jones is just as good as Kelly.

Sounds legit.

Kelly was 17-4 in conference games and went to a BCS bowl. Jones was 12-9 and did no such thing.
