Alright! Bringing some common sense to the board! I like it. :hi:

(FTR, I want Gruden more than anyone, but I am realistic enough to have moved on from that dream long ago)

:lolabove: stopped reading at Sabam and Cower

I'm saying there are other post on here about Saban and Cowher....I was laughing at those same suggestions. No way in hell those names are even being considered or ever would. This is supposed to be a thread for people with realistic expectations.

How bout Terry Bowden? He's a good Coach, knows the South...I kinda like him, plus we wear the same size clothes now.

For everyone that is actually being real about this situation and understands that Jon Gruden will not be the next coach at Tennesse, let's have honest conversations about the potential next coach and some realistic ideas.

Yeah, cause all the Gruden naysayers really stay out of the Gruden thread...

No post about luring Bob Stoops, Nick Saban or Bill Cowher. Hopefully, I'm not the only one on this board that's list doesn't include

Gruden, Cowher, Saban, Muschamp, etc...

Let's wake up and talk about some real candidates (these are in no paticular order)

1) Charlie Strong
2) Jimbo Fisher
3) Al Golden
4) Gary Patterson
5) Larry Fedora
6) Greg Roman
7) Jim Tressel

1) Patterson
2) Tressel
3) Shaw
4) Briles

I don't see why Briles is such a bad choice? He has won more big games at Baylor in the last 2 years than Tennessee has in the last 10 years.

Hire him and give him a super staff.

These coaching search threads are making me convinced we are a mediocre program, b/c these lists are flat out mediocre.

you can take Tressel off there, the show cause , Strong will be hard to pull away from where he is at,probably be hard to pull Roman to,i can't see Patterson leaving,i don't know much about Golden, the more i read the more i think no,which comes to Jimbo Fisher, friends with Hart,he could very well be the next head coach here

I would say Patterson would be a good selection and give access to some Texas kids, but i think hes more suited for Arkansuck..

I think we are really thinking about Fisher myself. Maybe we should do like Ark and just offer Saban the job..hell we already got bammers all over the place anyways.

I do not understand all the Strong love. He needs a few more years before he's ready for a job this size.

Can't argue with that. Like I said though, for me it's as much the idea of a successful black coach as anything else. I think it would be a major plus for a top level SEC program. Whether Strong is that guy, I don't know.

Clearly he never started reading. Going out on a limb and saying His contributions won't be missed.

Can we title this "The Official Non Gruden Thread I" :) love the idea.

Personally, I like Strong, Patterson, and Tressel.

I could live with Golden, Fisher, or Fedora - but I wouldn't be thrilled about it.

I'll also say this, despite knowing I will be bashed for it - I like Petrino. Yes, I know about his history. Yes I know UT would never hire him. I'm just saying - "morals" (which are entirely subjective) don't win games. Dude is a winner, period. Whoever gets him will win more than Tennessee next season, you can bet on that. Flame Away :p

If I was Gary Patterson I'd honestly just hold pattern at TCU until Mack Brown is let go.

Would like to see if we could at least interview David Shaw. Long shot for him to leave Stanford... but think he would be a good coach.

Strong I could live with. Al Golden would make me cry deep inside my soul.

Yeah Ole Charlie is really lighting it up on the recruiting trail this year :eek:lol: Ranked #72 recruiting class behind such powerhouses as UAB, Temple and Tulane... No Thanks
