I'll say it - Heupel needs to sit Nico for UTEP

Then why let him play against Kent or Chattanooga?

Were we in a position then where it mattered? Not at all because we were 0-0 and 2-0 respectively..... if we were sitting 9-1 now with Gaston Moore as the starter, it would NOT be an issue.

But right now, we can't afford any risk or scenario where the CFP has a chance to eliminate us for a non loss, which is something they have shown they will do across multiple previous seasons.

Makes zero sense. He gets hurt against Kent and you have gas pipe all year.....

Nico needs to play as much as possible

Yeah that worked so well for FSU and Jordan Travis who was on shortlist for Heisman before getting derailed by an injury in a meaningless late season game vs juggernaut Northern Alabama
If he skipped a game he would not have been a heisman finalist. Great players play not sit out for individual awards

As it has been released we are in the first team out spot, my Battered Vol Syndrome really has me thinking Heupel needs to sit Nico for UTEP and not risk any potential injury ala Florida State / Jordan Travis 2023....

There is virtually no upside to risking any potential injury to Nico in a meaningless practice game.

There is a lot of non SEC teams in the playoff rankings that will eat each other and likely present an opportunity for us to slide in. With that in mind, I do not believe we need to risk any scenario where other teams help us out only for us to not be graded fairly like Florida State did last year by getting hosed in the playoff because of a QB injury.
He needs to play and play well.

Nico since he is a first year starter needs to play. But yes we need to throw more and try more stuff. Also don’t run score up. We need to play clean. I do agree we need to practice deep ball over running Dsamp

We need to play Nico and plan to unleash a butt whooping on UTEP and Vandy. We need to pass the eye test, especially on offense. More specifically, we need to show the committee we are a good throwing team too. They already believe in our run game and defense. The eye test puts you either in or out now.

Heupel needs to use the UTEP game to improve our passing attack. I don't want to hear losers say, "It's too late for our passing game to improve" or "we are who we are". Every week is an opportunity to get better.
I know you don’t want to hear it, but this is year 4…and this passing offense is still predictable.

The run game is still the same too.
There’s so much talent we’re not engaging onto the field because of seniority and those matters. Heupel is a real genuine dude, but he’s too old school right now.

Bru McCoy is an athlete. He can take direct snaps and handoffs. We’re not using his physicality enough. Where’s the bubble screens?
Where’s the 10 yard button hook over the middle of the field. Where’s the TE chip block- then drags route? Why haven’t they had Sampson and Bishop/Lewis in pro-set or just on the field at the same time?? Why can’t we get any of our recruited WRs ready to contribute? Nathan Leacock and Mike Matthews are just sitting on the bench… 2 Top 100 WRs.

Tennessee is like a really good bucket of fried chicken with no sides….🫤

He needs to play and we need to beat the shh out of UTEP for style points. Anything to help our chances of getting in. UTEP is a big game. Show the committee we are better than those other bubble teams.

At this point, Nico needs as many reps as he can get. He and the entire offense haven’t shown up for 4 quarters yet this year except for the cupcakes.

So just to clarify, you think UTEP is some factor of a team that is actually matters who is playing QB for us and being able to score 50 points?

Bless your heart.
I can tell reading isn't your strong suit. Let me try again. The team we're playing doesn't matter. The offense needs more reps to try to get the kinks worked out. If they play like they have been, they're count to get beat in 1st round. Maybe yall are OK with just making the playoff. I'd like to win. Hopefully I spelled it out enough for you.

The fresh hell is this?

Nico needs to PLAY. He needs to SCORE. He needs to score a LOT. Tennessee needs to score A LOT. The Vols need to put a chalk outline around UTEP's cold dead corpse and then wrap Shield-Watkins Preserved By Pilot (tm) Field with police caution tape.

This is laughable. I will say this. There needs to be ZERO designed runs for Nico against UTEP. And I mean ZERO. But let’s be honest here, Nico should have a pretty clean jersey in this game. He should not be getting sacked. Our OL should absolutely manhandle UTEP and give Nico the kind of time that UGA gave Beck last week.

I mean Nico has had an average to below average year. Why not let him pad some stats like the SC QB did? Why not let Nico go out there and throw for 400 and 4 TDs in one half? Other QBs do it. Nico needs to play the first and second quarter and look dominant.
