Well to be fair……….shouldn’t it depend more on system being used?
I mean really Hooker is a pretty good runner. If Tennessee was using more of a pro style or something different …..sure maybe you want someone who can move………but do they “need” to move like Hooker?
what happens when they knock ever loving **** out of your qb and put him the hospital? In the future you will only have two qb's, and one will probably be a lower classman, or frosh. You feel this way because you haven't had an oline since 2007. Get yourself an oline, and it's a different game. You need about a bakers dozen of olinemen.
...ever recruit another QB that doesn't run at least as well as Hooker.
A flat-footed QB gives the D an extra defender.
Simple math.
Tom Brady and Matt Jones both say, "hi" Both have the speed of your usual clubfoot and one is wearing the most recent version of NFL Superbowl ring and the other is wearing the most recent version of NCAA National Champioship ring respectively.
No it’s not that simple. It depends on the team you have and the system you run. Your assumption that this offense cannot be successful without a DT QB is flawed and ridiculous. All we need is a QB with a high football IQ. One that is accurate, can read defenses and knows when to scramble.
Using your scenario, we would never have recruited a Mack Jones, Kyle Trask, Peyton Manning, AJ McCarron, Carson Palmer, Sam Bradford, Drew Lock.
Did any of those QBs play behind an average OLine and with a bad Defense?
On Manning, remember Steve Spurrier's line: Peyton Manning might be a great QB, but he can't throw the ball when he's flat on his back.
Well, good for you.
Bailey is leaving. However, had Bailey clearly been the best ball distributor and operator of the O... then he could have been GREATLY successful in this O.
There are different ways for QB's to be effective. Mobility definitely helps. Brice Young doesn't run often. His "greatness" is solely based on his arm talent and ball distribution.
if you watched the Cardinals and Packers last night, you see where the pro game is headed and the Cardinals are leading the way. They are running a good college offense! The time for the "PRO" drop back passer is coming to an end! Although the Cardinals lost on a last second mistake, they are the team to be watching as they take their place at the top of the heap! The new QB normal will be if you can't run you can't play!
