I'm fine with no SEC team in the CFP this year

GA is absolutely one of the 4 best teams, but they didn’t take care of business so they don’t deserve to make it if there are others more deserving. If by some ridiculous miracle the committee does put GA in, GA will cruise after that bad showing. But it ain’t happening, and IMO it probably shouldn’t. Too many others with good resumes

I'm just glad I am not on the CFP committee. If FSU wins there are so many different possibilities and the will be criticized no matter what they do. It will be fun to see what happens.

Which team won between Texas and Bama?
Texas won early in the season, doubt that happens today. By the way Georgia Tech fiinished 4th in the wannabe league. I am just advocating for the best 4 teams now, not what happened in September. If you think Ga and Alabama aren’t in the best 4 in the country, we’ve been watching different games. No participation trophies for accomplishments in the first 3-4 games of the season. Colorado was 3-0 during that time period.

I'm just curious, if we were in GA's shoes (1 loss in the SEC championship game after being #1 most of the year) would you still think we shouldn't get in?

Or, if we were in Bama's shoes (beat the #1 team in the SEC championship after a loss to TX) would you still want us out?
Wanting to be in and understanding that we had an opportunity and crapped the bed (Bama losing to TX) are two different things. TX and Bama’s resumes are comparable, TX head to head, TX played 10 conference games to Bama’s 9 and TX didn’t play an FCS team. IMO those give TX the nod and I don’t know what the argument is for Bama other than they beat #1.

The moment is all that matters, best teams right now should be criteria for playoffs, not what happened. Name another sport where a playoff spot is decided in the first or championship is decided in the first 1/4 of the season.
No it shouldn’t! How do you render the previous 12 games worthless/meaningless? It’s not the 4 best teams this week based on this weeks results; it’s the 4 best teams this week based on the entirety of results up to this week.

I think TX should be over Bama. I'm honestly a coin flip on GA and Bama (and prefer Bama ONLY because I'm going to a funeral in GA next week and just don't want to hear it.)

FSU is the clinker in this scenario. I get that they're goal in getting better is to get out of ACC so they can get their piece of the pie and that's fine. I'm not anti-FSU, I'm pro better football.

I don't think FSU can match up. TCU got lucky once, then turned into a smashed pumpkin. FSU might not be that lucky.

FSU wins tonight they’ll have two top 15 wins and 8 wins over bowl eligible P5 teams, which is the most of any team in the country. A team should not be penalized for having an injury. FSU’s defense is elite, and getting Rodemaker back and giving him a month to prep, they could hold their own.

We’ll just wait and see what the committee decides, I want to see the best 4 teams as they are playing now not what they did early. I truly believe that if you had a 8 team playoff the last two standing would be a rematch of the SEC Championship game. That’s all I’m saying and I’m done.

Bama probably is one of the best four based on their performance today. But you did see them win with a miracle against Auburn? If Auburn was halfway competent, Bama doesn’t win that one. Georgia did not look like one of the best four today or last weekend.

What’s right now? This one game weekend? You’d pick the 4 best teams based on what they looked like this week? So last week Bama wouldn’t be in when they’re escaping against a team who lost the week before by 21 to a G5 school? So last week it would’ve been Michigan, TX, Oregon and maybe UGA?

Should Auburn have been in if they beat Bama last week and it was the end of the season? If GT beat UGA would they have been in?

If you say no, then you’re unequivocally basing their exclusion off their record and performance in their entirety up to that point. Which completely erases your entire argument.

Bama is going to do, as Bama gets to do. If last weeks Iron Bowl wasn't the icing on the cake, that officials on the field and the football gods favor them. I believe they get in. While I also would be fine without an SEC team in the playoff.

Here is where I hate the argument against FSU.

If Jordan Travis doesn’t get hurt, we aren’t even having a debate about whether Florida State gets in or not. Even if you don’t think they are better than Bama or UGA or Texas, everyone agrees they would get in.

So here’s my problem. Let’s pretend Jared Verse and Kalen DeLoach were out for the year and in the last two games FSU beat Florida 45-38 and Louisville 42-35…

The committee wouldn’t care about the injuries to their two best defenders. It wouldn’t be a topic to the committee. But it is the QB, which is so high profile. So they talk about it.

I don’t think that is fair.

The playoff committee’s own mission statement is the argument. They are supposed to pick the 4 best teams at this time and not what happened in week 2.
That’s just a flat out lie, they use each teams whole body of work. On the field includes week 2.

"The selection committee ranks the teams based on the members’ evaluation of the teams’ performance on the field, using conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and comparison of results against common opponents to decide among teams that are comparable."

You forgot to add roll tide.

I have never bern a Michigan or FSU fan before, but i am tonight
My life simply cannot withstand Michigan winning it all in this year. My in laws have been insufferable “victims” since this whole cheating scandal broke, and I will not be able to survive the Michigan VS everybody victory lap. I beg of Washington to end all of the madness.
