I also watch him and get the distinct impression that he is scared 99% of the time. The young man does not display any confidence in his abilities at all and it shows.
I believe this from watching him too. Seems like a super kid. Coaches like him. He won the starting job in the Fall. Has been promoted in media guides and new jerseys, indicating the staff fully expects him to be the guy.
But, when the lights come, the crowd is watching, cameras are rolling, and cheerleaders are on the sidelines, it appears that he becomes like a deer in the headlights.
Worley was obviously under prepared in every opportunity under Dooley. He even said he was shocked when Dools pulled the RS against Bama. I'll never understand that one.
What I've been looking for is that killer instinct that makes a QB into a winner. To this point I don't see it. The bounce pass to the wide open tight end on play #1 last week spoke volumes to me. I thought "he's scared" as soon as the grass flew up in the face our TE.
Big game jitters are not for a Junior who has taken snaps in hostile environments. Sure, butterflies are there, but winners execute eventually.
As bad as I hate to say it, Tebow was the counter to Worley IMO. A gamer, whose mindset and instincts often made tons more out of less play after play. I see the opposite for Justin.
If he gets the start in the Swamp, then he needs to go in there ready to win or die trying. Kick some gator butt. Start a fight with a DL if needed and win that thing even if the final score is 3-2.
