I'm hearing Worley is possibly out...

He is good about checking down amd not making mistakes but what troubles me about Worely is he had time and open guys but couldn't make the throw.

We would prob lose that game 100/100 times with this team but we could have at least challenged them some if Worely could just male the easy throws consistently.

since you claim to be the elder statesman maybe you to old to realize worley is not the answer. i think butch started him because of experience. he couldnt throw it in the ocean standind on the beach. and you can look at all my other post i have said from the begining he was not the answer

For what its worth.. you will be saying the same thing if and when Peterman gets his chance.

FTR, I trust CBJ to put in the player he thinks gives us the best chance to win so I'm not calling for him to be benched. That doesn't mean I'm not concerned about Worley's ability to get it done.

......especially true if he starts in Gainesville. Could even be the best defense we play all year. If you like Peterman, or Dobbs, or Ferg why would you want them starting in the Swamp in that environment without any real playing time under their belt. Of all places, that is not the one to make a sacrificial offering. If someone earns it this week then alright by me but just for the sake of punishing Worley for overall lousy team performance against the #2 team in the NCAA doesn't seem too smart to me, but what do I know. IMHO

If Peterman starts and has the same completion percentage as Worley but has 60 yards rushing. Is that not better off ? What has his possible running opened up ? That's all I am saying. Same for either freshman.

Personally, I'd work Peterman in with a few series in the game, and use him in a few select situations where they could maybe utilize his athleticism. No, he's not going to be Tebow running the ball, but he's lightyears beyond Worley when it comes his speed and athleticism.

I wouldn't throw him out there as the starter unless he somehow is dramatically better than everyone else at practice this week.

No way I'd put one of the freshmen out there unless one of them was similarly just way better than everyone else. I'd only give up a year of eligibility with them only as a last resort.

Most of the so called experts say Tennessee has one of the best O lines in the country. Why cant we run the ball?

GBO

When you're one dimensional and there's no respect for QB arm or legs, then defenses will stack the line and good ones will stop the run.
:detective:

I don't and thank Ghod for that, btw. Put in the players who we will need for 2015+.

Doesn't CBJ's quarterback change after a 6-2 start in Cinnci prove he will play whoever gives him the best chance to win?

Not calling you out, just sayin....

I gotta believe our coaches believed starting the season Worley would give us the best chance to win games. Surely Worley hasn't been that inaccurate in practice. IMO

... as starting QB on other sites. Hyams saying that Butch is gonna open the position back up. Can anyone confirm?

SIAP. Didn't se it clearly marked in a thread

Butch said the position was wide open this week. The best QB in practice would start vs. Florida.

What about the lousy performance vs western Kentucky? What about all the under thrown balls against Austin Peay. For the life of me I will never understand this fan base. One year you have Tyler Bray throwing for 325 yds a game and everyone hates him. The next year you have Worley throwing for 120 yds and missing wide open receivers constantly and people want to keep him in.

So......if the backs can't make their cuts to an opening in the line how in the heck do you go for it on 4th and short when the defense has shut down the passing game even with the line stacked? We may have to agree to disagree on this one. Too much in family fighting goin on already. LOL :salute:

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally. I'd rather go out swinging than go home with my sympathy points. If I were Oregon's coach, I wouldn't have stopped at the 3rd quarter and put another 40 on the board.

Confusing, isn't it?

Jones can't start Worley on Saturday no matter what. By opening the qb race up he has admitted that there is a glaring weakness. If he starts Worley after doing so, then is also admitting that Worley is the best we have to offer and we are @%&#@*.

I have said it before in other threads and I will mention it again here. If we are going to run a Read Option offense, then the QB MUST be able to run the ball. Opposing defenses know that Worley isn't going to run so they load up the box and stop our RB's before they can accomplish anything. This would be acceptable if we had someone who was accurate and had a cannon for an arm because then at least he could make the Defense hesitate about putting so many people up towards the line of scrimmage.

Worley is a game manager QB, he isn't going to beat anyone with his legs and he doesn't have the accuracy to be a true pocket passer. I also watch him and get the distinct impression that he is scared 99% of the time. The young man does not display any confidence in his abilities at all and it shows.

Fella's I'm not trying to defend Worley's performance to date nor is anyone else, at least that I have read. I and everyone else know we have issues far deeper than any one position including QB. Personally I believe all our backup QB's have potential or they would not be wearing that orange jersey. I have reservations about starting a kid for the first time in the Swamp when one our issues is team confidence cause that ain't no place to get it even for the best around. UF defense is a meat grinder and they always find a way to play at their best against us. Fortunately, Coach Jones is not interested in my opinion either. LOL

Bingo - he doesn't want to take a hit thus the reason CBJ said he "needs to play more aggressively". In other words, take off up field if the opportunity presents itself.

Apparently, in his press conference, CBJ mentioned the fact that they have given Worley the green light to keep the ball when he sees fit in this read option offense...he's not being told to hand off. If so, it tells me he's either scared to keep it and make a mistake...or just scared to take a hit. Either way, we gotta try someone new.

Maybe he's scared of the mistake because no one supports him and tries to boost his confidence up? Maybe he's playing tight so he won't receive death threats like a former quarterback did? Ever try a "come on man, relax, I've got your back"? No, people jump straight to the "he sucks, let's toss him aside" after 3 GAMES as the starter.

My biggest issue is why are we running read option without a read option qb? Worley isnt a runner, has no arm strength, and looks lost outside the pocket.

IMO the staff needs to implement the system they came in with and not try to change something for a player with no upside in their system.

Safe to say CBJ is pissed off. Losing is infectious and he may very well give the team an injection of a case of red ass.

I, now, would be shocked if we don't burn a redshirt. Start a mobile QB and we could cause a few problems for UF.
