His players clapped for him when he broke the news to them. That's respect if I've ever seen it.

He had me when he was asked if he had animosity for not being the first choice and came back with "I think I was my wife's 3rd choice".

Jones may be the "Bruce Pearl" type of character coach our current roster needs....high energy...chest bumping...firey proven winner to motivavte and teach them how to win...I'm GEEKED UP after his press conference.

BTW....per Daniel Hood on Twitter: Should've known it would be C. Butch Jones comes from a school that is half bear the other half cat.#rockytop#VFL#welcomehome

He said all the right things, he has me ready to play... VFL
I love that he said any of the past players could come back anytime, the door was always open, plus he is a players coach, I love that...I'm ready....

The open door policy to all former players was great as well. Bizarro-Dooley.

No kidding!!
Never understood why the previous coach never imbraced the former Vols
Glad coach jones has a open door policy!
Can't wait to see his coaching staff assembled !

Absolutely! That should tell you all you need to know. I liked the hire from the beginning and I'm even more excited than ever now. It's a great feeling to be excited about UT football again.

When he said he wanted a person on staff who has been there, done that at Tennessee, he had me. I've said all year we only had one guy like that, and I don't think Dooley gave it a second thought.

I'll support him til he gives me reason not to.

This!

I was pretty upset this morning about the hire, but that was mainly due to the shock he wasn't who I wanted. Of course I wanted a Frankenstein's Monster of Neyland's ability, Fulmer's passion, and Trooper's chest bumps so I was probably going to be disappointed regardless.

Now that I've cooled off... solid hire IMO.

I liked the Press Conference. He's earned my support until proven otherwise.

+1 on the differences from Dooley.

Here's another one - "He's won wherever he's been."

I can't wait. Now on to the Staff, then the recruits, then Spring Practice . . .

GBO !

Volly just has a soft heart to orange tie types.... j/k

He was fired up and 250% better than a Strong presser would have been. Just hoping he's better than Strong on the field as well.

Want to know who the DC is that he's got in mind. I'm on board after the PC just want to see the staff. Playing Oregon at Duck Field will be a monster effort come 2013. Not to mention the other big hills to climb.
